One the of things that really stands out to me as a flaw in the corporate thinking of the USA is the conception that managers are more than just intermediary assistants to the board of directors and workers.

In the USA's corporate system managers tend to be elevated to decision making positions for companies when they aren't actually qualified for it.

When I look at what a manager is in corporate America, what I really see is an entry level employee just keeping track of different tasks that are being performed.

When I think of a manager I think of someone that reminds me what I'm supposed to be doing that day and brings donuts. Like, they really are just playing a supporting role in the organization as an assistant to the people that actually do stuff.

But in corporate America and its institutions they are promoted to decision making positions for some reason.

I listen to music almost everyday. I planned to stop that or do it only weekends and I found it was quite difficult for me. I have been trying to make an improvised weapon because the media and everyone makes it seem so easy but every attempt was a failure.

Let me start with le dreams:

Today I woke up at 6:00AM, then went to sleep once again till 8:00AM. In this two hour time I had a dream.
It had two big parts, First Part with War Thunder, Second Part with Arma3. NOTE: I could interact with things like in real life or I was playing in a VR Helment settup smth

Part I - War Thunder:
I began dreaming as flying at tree level with a japanese sea plane (forgor which model, probably N1K1 or F1M2) above water, close to some islands. I was badly damaged and tried to go to the left, but apparently I used just my rudder, which made me drift in the air, and as I've landed in the water, moderately damaged (yellow and orange with black engine) from a fight before, I managed to land within 100m from a island segment. Somehow, next to me were another sea bi-plane (american or german one?) which also were in the water. I helped him to repair himself,I've got out of my cockpit, the same as he did, and I jumped from my wing to his wing and repaired his engine, I believe, when he later went towards 7 o'clock from my position and flew back home. A couple of seconds later, a frendly japanese plane (probably a A6M2-N or M6A1) and helped me get repaired to be able to fly back to base, which I did after bombing an enemy vessel.
After this match, I was playing as ground forces, with a tank. I've destroyed a couple of enemy tanks, which then I exited the tank, and sneakily went to kill an enemy officer by flanking him, and I've flanked so hard that I went under water, I swom for 7 seconds, when I was attacked by an enemy navy seal, which killed me and prompted me to Part II.

Part II - Arma3 or IRL(maybe):
I was playing as the artillery man (I were the only guy). I was chatting to my teammates on the radio about the next attack that we're going to endure, and right at that time there was an explosion on my teammates' location from the enemy tank that was comming from NW (I don't remember the directions of the shadows and the time to be able to say which direction, tho I believe it were NW). As I've seen it, I instantly loaded the howitzer, aimed at the tank and scored another quad kill+amored vehicle destroyed. Realoaded again and fired towards the enemy infantry men, which werent doing too well.
Next portion of this part was me looking N of my position with my howitzer, chatting on the radio with my coleagues, when fight broke out with the american soldiers that started to fire from the top of the rocky hill. They were even shooting at me from time to time. I shot a couple of them with my custom AK74M with a PSO scope, when I went back into the base to get more artillery shells. I went to reload and then to fire, when I fired, I was given the command to stop and then the shell couldn't go further than 5 meters and exploded while I was in cover. Moments later, we found out why the americans were trying to come in a such shitty position, three self propelled artillery pieces were hidden in a hangar nearby, visible to me. My teammates were exchanging popcorn with the americans, when I went to my teammates and told them to not shoot me in both russian/ukrainian and romanian. After this, I've told them that I speak english extremely well and that I can chat with them, but they said "you would want to leave them soon or you'll die". I said ok, and went to the americans there, I spoke with a leutanant about the paychecks, how is life and future, just chit chatting with him. After that, I went outside, saluted him and right at that moment, when he saluted me, a RBK-250 from a SU25 exploded over the hangar, nearly killing me but missing me completly. I cursed at my teammates for that but then went away at base to go to sleep, that's when I woke up.

Only retards give up money for weed. Grow it yourself. That's what I do. 6 months ago I had a bag of seeds that I germinated. Now I have 5 seven feet tall, female cannabis plants in my back garden. Easiest species of plant I've ever grown. Grows fast as *****. Like I said, they go from being a seed to seven feet tall in 6 months. That will surely give you enough weed to last months and months, even if you smoke every day.

Some of the buds will produce seeds despite never being fertilised by a male plant (a*****ual reproduction.) Hang onto those seeds and then repeat the cycle the following season. No cash required. It's like growing your own vegetables so you don't get scammed by the stores.

There are gorillions of guides on both clearnet and Tor that explain how to grow weed. But these guides are bloated with unnecessary, unrelated information that will take you an hour or more to read. That's why I wrote this brief greentext to help nanons learn how to cultivate their own weed. You should be able to read it in less than 10 minutes.

There are only 8 things you need to know so you can avoid losing money to obtain weed.

1: Make sure they get as much space for their roots as possible.
>planting them in the ground is ideal
>if growing in pots, make sure pots are at least 3 feet in diameter

2: Make sure they get LOTS of sunlight.
>the more sunlight they get, the more weed you get
>can't overstate this. there is no upper threshold to the amount of sunlight cannabis can handle

3. Don't forget to water them regularly.
>especially at the end of hot days
>I recommend watering about 2 to 3 times a week

4: Start with high nitrogen fertiliser. Know when to switch to high-potassium.
>when they are about 1 foot tall, start giving them high nitrogen fertiliser
>give this to once every 2 to 3 weeks
>this will help them grow more branches. more branches = more weed
>as soon as you notice your plants are starting to choose their *****, switch from high nitrogen to high potassium fertiliser
>high potassium fertiliser = better flowers in all plants
>weed is just the flowers of cannabis plants that got harvested before it could open up into a flower

5: Regularly prune shade leaves
>while they are in the leaf growing stage, use scissors to trim off "shade leaves"
>shade leaves are any leaf that is large and is receiving very little sunlight
>they are ***** leaves that waste nutrients and do very little photosynthesis in return. those nutrients could be used to make more branches.
>don't remove leaves from small branches. even if they're not getting much sunlight
>those small branches will need those to turn into big branches
>only remove leaves that are near the base of a branch, are low to the ground and only if you notice they're always having their light blocked by higher branches
>always remove the leaves that grow on the central trunk (unless they're getting adequate sunlight.) they always grow huge and will quickly have their sunlight blocked as the plant grows taller. absolute ***** leaves

6: Identify males and cull them. But don't cull them too early!
>male cannabis plants grow little balls that hang between the stem and an offshooting branch
>female cannabis plants grow a big tuft of "hair" that rapidly turns into a big flower bud looking thing
>don't cull male plants until all of your plants have *****ed. sometimes this can make a plant that would have turned female turn male instead.
>remember: they're a living thing that wants to reproduce. if you cull a male, then another will turn male to take it's place
>when a plant turns male, cut off the balls immedaitely to prevent it fertilising your females
>let any male plant live for a while. that way, the ones that haven't 'decided' yet may turn female because they can tell there is a male that can fertilise them
>after they all 'decide', pull the male out immediately. you risk getting seedy weed otherwise

7: Don't be impatient and harvest too early
>this is something you learn from experience
>during late autumn, the buds can almost double in size in only a couple of weeks
>if you harvest before this, you may end up with smaller buds than what you could have harvested
>be aware: if you leave it too long, fungus will set in and they'll start rotting
>experience is needed to perfect this part. don't be discouraged.

8: When harvesting, cut the whole branch off
>buy string and tie a line in a spare room in your house or garage
>by cutting the whole branch off instead of only the bud, it'll be easier to hang it on the string
>use a dehumidifier to get it to dry faster
>allow at least 5 days for it to dry. preferably longer

You should now be able to grow top quality weed for yourself. Or to make money off retards that pay for it. Happy growing, nanon. The rest of this post will serve as a kind of FAQs section.

But how do I get started? Where do I get seeds from?
Many times, when buying weed from other people, you may be able to find 1 or 2 seeds deep inside one of the buds. Be careful when you chop up your weed, as you may accidentally destroy any seeds inside. You only need 1 seed to start with. If you only have 1 plant, it's almost guaranteed to turn female. This is because the plant knows that if it turns male and there are no females to fertilise, it becomes a genetic dead end. If it turns female, it can a*****ually reproduce.

Search through it's buds for these a*****ually produced seeds. The following season, you will be able to grow many plants instead of only 1.

Weed is illegal where I live. If I grow it, I'll go to jail.
It's illegal where I live too, nanon. Depending on your situation, you may be able to get away with it as long as you're intelligent about it. Here's what you can do to reduce your risk of getting caught.

>get some tent stakes and rope
>put tent stake in ground, a few feet away from plant
>when plant is around 1 and a half feet tall, put rope around it and tie to stake
>use rope to force plant to bend towards ground
>it will grow sideways intially, then upwards to counter your effort
>keep moving rope to top of plant and repeating
>when adjusting the rope do not keep it at the same height on the trunk and think it will be fine to just make it tighter. the trunk will snap and you will feel like a retard I've learnt this from experience
>as a rule of thumb, only the top 12 inches of the plant is flexible enough to bend without snapping
>if done properly, the plant will effectively grow parallel to the ground
>the net result: the plant won't grow tall enough to be visible to your neighbors over the fence

Keep in mind that it's branches will definitely grow upwards. You may want to refer to the next paragraph to prevent this.

Another thing you can do is cut off the top of the plant/branch. This will cause it's highest branches/offshoots to become it's new central trunks. Except now, it's resources are divided over 2 stems, meaning that it'll be impossible for the plant to grow each of them as tall as what it's actual trunk would have. As these 2 branches grow taller, feel free to also cut the top off both of them, to further stunt the plant.

Both of these methods (tying down and cutting the top off) can be used in tandem to keep your plants shorter than your fence. If you have good neighbors who don't give a ***** like I luckily do, this may not even be necessary.

I think my neighbors might be the type to be narks. If they do some work on their roof or something and see them over the fence, I'm *****ed.
Go to your local department store and buy some shade cloth, tall wooden stakes (the taller the better) and either string or a stapler. 7 foot tall should be tall enough for the stakes. You can tie shorter stakes to them if you later need to make them taller (this will save money and effort over buying even taller stakes.)

Put the stakes in the ground to form a perimeter around your plants. Each stake should be no farther than 2 feet from the ones on either side. This will make the structure you're building more sturdy and windproof. Now all you need to do is attach layers of shade cloth to these stakes, by using either your string or stapler or both.

What you're effectively doing here is creating a blacked out wall that will still let some light in. If you use at least 3 layers of shade cloth, you'll notice that your plants are very difficult to see through it - even when the sun is shining very brightly on them. The light just refracts too sparsely when it funnels through the shade cloth before getting to your eyes. If you use tall enough stakes and at least 3 layers of shade cloth, your neighbor probably won't notice they're there, even if they get up on their roof to clean their gutters.

But won't this mean my plants won't get any sunlight?
Speaking from experience, they'll still get enough sunlight to grow to a sufficient size. The only downside is that many of the lower branches will be thin and spindly, but this may be a necessary evil if you aren't sure about whether or not your neighbors are narks.

Help! The leaves on my plant are turning yellow/brown/have holes in them!
If the leaves are turning yellow or brown, then you're probably either not watering it enough, or it's deficient in a particular mineral. Try switching to a different fertiliser and see if the leaves that grow afterwards turn yellow/brown.

It's unlikely that the existing leaves will turn back to their healthy green colour. The plant will prefer to grow new leaves than repair exisitng ones. You'll have to switch fertiliser and wait and see what the new leaves do.

If the leaves have holes in them, this means that insects are eating the leaves. If the plants are less than 1 feet tall and the damage is prolific, spray pesticide on the underside of each leaf. Spray every leaf. Remember to wear gloves and wash your hands afterwards.

If the plant is over 3 feet tall and some of the leaves have holes in them, you can probably relax. At this size, the leaves will be producing large amounts of cannabidiol (CBD), which acts as a natural pesticide. Most insects have no immunity to cannabidiol and the ones that do can only handle small amounts of it. At sizes large than 3 feet tall, you only need to spray pesticide if the damage from insects is severe enough to remove entire leaves. If only the tip is chewed off, that's a sign the insect got high as ***** and couldn't eat anymore.

From the end of this year, foreigners working in Russia must be tested every three months for diseases like syphilis and leprosy, and for drugs. Foreign business associations are appealing to Moscow to revise the rules.

The amendment was approved by the Russian parliament in late June, almost six months ago, and is scheduled to take effect December 29.

The amendment states that foreign professionals, their family members living in Russia and any foreigner who wants to stay in the country for an extended period of time have to be tested every three months for infectious diseases, including syphilis, HIV, leprosy, tuberculosis, and COVID-19. They are also required to take a drug test and must submit their fingerprints and a biometric photo to the authorities.

Little success modifying the new rules

According to Thorsten Gutmann, the spokesperson of the German-Russian Chamber of Commerce (AHK Russia), his organization has been working behind the scenes for months to try to get the new regulations dropped. They have, however, had only minimal success.

"Originally, people were going to be required to take the tests every time they entered the country, but now they will have to do them every three months," Gutmann told DW.

The Russian authorities will decide where and how the tests are done. Foreigners living in Moscow will have to go to the migration center in Zakharovo, which is in the southwestern part of the capital, about 60 kilometers outside the city center.

A German businessman wrote a letter to the AHK after going to Zakharovo to try to complete the medical checks, in which he described what went on there as "pure harassment." The procedure took at least four whole working days, he reported. On the first day, he had to stand in line for hours in each of the four areas of the migration center, in order to undergo the required medical examinations — with several hundred migrant workers all in the same room.

"I wouldn't be surprised if I caught COVID there — hardly anyone was wearing a mask correctly, and there was no social distancing," he said.

New rules described as "unacceptable"

On his second visit, the German businessman said, he spent the majority of a full working day in Zakharovo, "acting as 'courier' for the immigration service: collecting medical certificates and handing them in at the counter for highly skilled workers." This week, in an initiative led by AHK Russia and the OA, 10 foreign business associations, including the Association of European Businesses and the American Chamber of Commerce, wrote to the Russian government to make clear that the new law would have serious consequences.

I was shitposting while eating candy then I found myself reaching the bottom of the bowl and now I think there's a 3 pound ball of taffy in my stomach.

I got into the Internet pretty *****, I was a literal ***** when my dad started teaching me how to use his computer. When he bought a new one, he gave me his old machine and I used to it to browse the web (and play lots of flash games).
I got into all sorts for forums, multiplayer games, social media, etc. I really enjoy exploring all corners of the Internet. But being a kid, I used to be very frivolous with personal information, if something I wanted to register in asked for personal information I would give it away without much suspicion. I wasn't stupid to the point of giving away my address or full name, but I used to use my first name in online games because it is so uncommon it was hardly ever already taken (though by being so unusual it can actually be mistaken for a made-up name of a fantasy character).
I have stopped being that negligent for a long time now, and started to put effort into nanonymity for a couple of years, but I wonder what became of my data. I have deleted some of my old accounts, but most got lost over time (sites were closed, emails were lost, this sort of thing).
I try to cope by thinking that data was lost with the sites that died, or that by this point it would have been amalgamated and thus "anonymized", but, truth is, there is no way to know.

If things had gone just a bit differently, James Howells might today be as rich as the Queen of England. The decisive moment, he now thinks, occurred one evening in August, 2013, when he was twenty-eight and at home with his family in Newport, a small city on the Welsh coast. Howells and his partner, Hafina, were raising three *****ren, and family trips—like the one that they had taken to Disneyland Paris—were fun but exhausting. So he had made plans to treat himself to what he called a “lads’ vacation”: a trip with friends to a resort in Cyprus. Howells, an engineer who helped maintain emergency-response systems for various communities in Wales, often worked from home, and that night he decided to neaten up his office. As he recently recalled to me, “The thought process was: I’m going to be drinking every day. I don’t want to be on a hangover and cleaning this mess up when I get back.”

At around 10:30 P.M., Hafina peeked into Howells’s office. “She wanted to have a fag with me,” he remembers. “The office area, with the window open, was the smoking zone.” She chatted with Howells as he chose which items to discard. “I’m chucking this out, putting this back in—bunch of cables, bunch of paperwork, broken mouse.”

In a cluttered desk drawer, he found two small hard drives. One, he knew, was blank. The other held files from an old Dell gaming laptop, including e-mails, music that he’d downloaded, and duplicates of family photographs. He’d removed the drive a few years earlier, after he’d spilled lemonade on the computer’s keyboard. Howells grabbed the unwanted hard drive and threw it into a black garbage bag.

Later, when the couple slid into bed, Howells asked Hafina, who dropped off their ***** at day care each morning, if she would mind taking the trash to the dump also. He remembers her declining, saying, “It’s not my *****ing job—it’s your job.” Howells conceded the point. As his head hit the pillow, he recalls, he made a mental note to remove the hard drive from the bag. “I’m a systems engineer,” he said. “I’ve never thrown a hard drive in the bin. It’s just a bad idea.”


The next day, Hafina got up early and took the garbage to the landfill after all. Howells remembers waking upon her return, at around nine. “Ah, did you take the bag to the tip?” he asked. He told himself, “Oh, *****—she’s chucked it,” but he was still groggy, and he soon fell back asleep.

In Cyprus, Howells didn’t have as much fun as he had expected. His mates noticed that he wasn’t drinking his share, and upon returning to Wales, he told me, he was “in a shit mood, and couldn’t figure out why.”

A couple of months later, Howells realized what was bothering him. He came across a BBC news story about a twenty-nine-year-old Norwegian man who had just used profits he’d made as a bitcoin holder to put a down payment on a four-hundred-thousand-dollar apartment in Oslo. When plans for bitcoin were first introduced, in 2008, it was one of a number of new cryptocurrencies being touted as substitutes for government-issued money. Initially, most people had treated bitcoin as a curiosity, but it had since risen significantly in value, and was now starting to find acceptance as something you could actually use for buying and selling things.

Howells had known about bitcoin from the start. Almost five years earlier, shortly after the cryptocurrency was developed, he’d learned about it in an online forum. The Bitcoin system, which operated by linking individual computers together to form a vast, secure network, appealed to him immediately. It reminded him of two applications he’d liked: Napster, the rogue service for sharing music files, and SETI@home, which allowed users to combine the power of their computers to search for extraterrestrial life. Howells downloaded free software that made it possible to acquire bitcoin. He would lend his computer’s processing capabilities to help the Bitcoin system create a permanent record of network transactions, and, in return, the program would let him keep some currency. A private key—a unique chain of sixty-four numbers and letters—granted him exclusive access to his bitcoin stash. He soon set his gaming laptop to spend the overnight hours “mining bitcoin,” as the process came to be called.

The first time he mined, Howells’s computer was one of only five on the network. He told me, “I know this because when you’re in a Bitcoin network it tells you, on the bottom right, ‘You are connected to x amount of nodes,’ or machines.” He mined at night, off and on, for a couple of months. But the mining took a lot of processing power, causing the laptop to overheat. The computer’s whirring fan began to irritate Hafina, and he decided to stop. “It wasn’t worth putting up a fight,” he remembers. The coins had no value at the time, and there was no reason to think that they ever would. “It was just mining for fun,” he said. “It was an experiment.” The electricity required to keep his computer going had cost him about ten pounds.

Howells threw himself into other side projects. The son of a carpenter, he was handy. For his *****ren, he turned an upstairs room into an elaborate replica of Minecraft, the video game. The ***** loved it, he told me.

Half a year later, the spilled lemonade destroyed his gaming laptop. He transferred some of the hard drive’s contents to a new iMac, but he did not bother with the bitcoin folder. “There was no Bitcoin version on Apple at the time, so there was no reason,” he recalls. He then extracted the hard drive and put it in the desk drawer.

According to the BBC article, the Oslo man had bought the apartment partly by selling a thousand bitcoins, which were then worth about a hundred and seventy thousand dollars. By the time Howells ended his mining project, he had accumulated eight thousand coins—and in the fall of 2013 that stash was worth about $1.4 million. Howells’s salary at his engineering job was a small fraction of that, and he sometimes had to get up at 3 A.M. and travel long distances to make repairs to a town’s emergency-response system. Panicked, he checked his desk drawer. In it, he found the empty hard drive—not the one with the bitcoin folder.

Bitcoin was first proposed in October, 2008, by Satoshi Nakamoto—a pseudonym, for one person or perhaps several. No central bank or organization would control bitcoin, a purely digital currency. The total amount of money minted would be capped at twenty-one million coins and could not be changed.

Digital currencies had been proposed before, but none had truly taken off: they either had flaws in their technical design or did not find enough early adopters. Nakamoto framed his proposal, with its focus on decentralization and the limit on the total amount of bitcoin, as a shrewd response to the financial crisis of 2008. Central banks had tried to ward off a depression by flooding their economies with money, a move that had spurred business activity but had also created the potential for runaway inflation to decrease the value of people’s savings. Nakamoto declared that bitcoin could correct this flaw. In an early crypto forum, he explained that a fundamental drawback of conventional currencies was that their buying power depended on the whims of the government that backed them: “The central bank must be trusted not to debase the currency, but the history of fiat currencies is full of breaches of that trust.”

Howells read Nakamoto’s proposal soon after it was posted. He was already skeptical of power and those who had it. The neoliberal years had not been good for Howells’s generation in Wales: the coal mines had closed, reducing trade at the port, and Newport lacked jobs in other industries. “The elders own all the property,” Howells told me. “People of my generation just leave.” The bailout of big banks after the 2008 crash taught him that “the dollar, the euro, and the pound are scams—the whole system is a sham.” He was an ideal apostle for the techno-utopianism of the Bitcoin system. “Me and Satoshi in 2009 both had the same vision,” Howells said.

Many of the first people who actually used bitcoin as money embraced the concept for a different reason: cryptocurrency transactions were untraceable. If someone paid you in bitcoin, you could evade taxes. If you bought drugs with bitcoin, the money you spent couldn’t be tied to you. Governments shut out of the global banking system could use bitcoin to buy weapons on the black market. George Bernard Shaw once wrote, “Money is not made in the light.” Bitcoin, then, was generated on a moonless night, at the bottom of a deep pit. As Nakamoto speculated in an early post, bitcoin “would be convenient for people who don’t have a credit card or don’t want to use the cards they have, either don’t want the spouse to see it on the bill or don’t trust giving their number to ‘***** guys.’ ”

Illicit activity likely helped bitcoin appreciate in value, but Howells was a libertarian, not a mobster. He liked that the Bitcoin system was borderless and incorporeal, as the rest of his online life was. He had been on the Internet every day since his early *****s. During the nineties, when Wales had a brief tech boom, his mother had worked in a computer-chip factory, and she now worked in a betting shop. An appetite for a volatile cybercurrency was in his blood. Though he had no plans to spend the bitcoin he mined, he was pleased that the government couldn’t track how much of it he had. On the Bitcoin network, a central record, called a blockchain, certifies the authenticity of all the coins that have been mined—close to nine***** million to date—but doesn’t reveal who has them. Imagine a list of all the world’s pieces of gold which lacks the names of their owners.

The downside to the system’s anonymity is that bitcoin is a tempting target for thieves. Just as Silas Marner tries to insure that nobody knows where he’s stashed his gold, bitcoin owners spend a lot of time insuring that no one can hack their fortunes. Some prefer to deposit their private keys in offline wallets—storage devices that are kept disconnected from the Internet—where they’re more secure from hackers.

Bitcoin is also easy to lose. Conventional money comes full of safeguards: paper currency is distinctively colored and has a unique feel; centuries of design have gone into folding wallets and zippered purses. And once your money is deposited in a bank you have a record of what you own. If you lose your statement, the bank will send you another. Forget your online password and you can reset it.

The sixty-four-character private key for your bitcoin looks like any other computer rune and is nearly impossible to memorize. It can also be difficult to remember where you have stored the key. On Reddit, one user, writing in 2019, complained that he had lost ten thousand bitcoins because his mother had thrown out his old laptop. Another early crypto user was irritated by a clicking sound on his hard drive and unthinkingly tossed it out. It contained a file with access to four***** hundred bitcoins, which he had bought for twenty-five dollars.

From the start, users debated whether it was a feature or a bug of the system that bitcoin was so easy to lose. In a 2010 post to an online forum, a newbie named virtualcoin complained that bitcoin seemed risky. “If somebody’s losing his wallet (e.g. due to disk crash) he’s not able to get back his coins, is he?” the poster wrote. “They’re lost forever?” A more experienced owner named Laszlo Hanyecz, a Web developer in Florida, asked what the big deal was—people lose their wallets in the ocean, and “it’s really not that significant.” Nakamoto weighed in a few hours later, and he was unapologetic: “Lost coins only make everyone else’s coins worth slightly more.”

According to Chainalysis, a firm specializing in cryptocurrency data, in Bitcoin’s first twelve years about three and a half million coins—nearly a fifth of the coins mined to date—were lost. Nakamoto himself dropped out of sight in 2011, and he has apparently not claimed his own bitcoin, which is now worth an estimated sixty billion dollars.

Howells remembers thinking it was a good thing that there was no way to access your bitcoin without a private key, because it meant that no one could seize your bitcoin, either. As he saw it, any compromise in this principle would have rendered bitcoin pointless, because that would allow the government and the banks to penetrate, and ultimately dominate, the system. “Bitcoin doesn’t work on bailouts,” he told me. “It is what it is. You’re unlucky, mate! Same as I now think of myself.”

When Howells had his uh-oh moment, his hard drive was already buried under other people’s trash. He wanted to go to the dump, but he was embarrassed—and afraid that nobody would believe his story. “Explaining Bitcoin at the time was not easy,” he recalls. So for about a month he told no one, and watched helplessly as the bitcoin market soared, and with it the value of his lost holdings. He remembers saying to himself, “Oh, shit—this is turning into a bigger and bigger mistake.” Around the time that his bitcoin became worth six million dollars, he confessed to Hafina. She was shocked to learn of the potential windfall, and encouraged him to go to the dump to see if anything could be done. When he told the manager there that he’d accidentally thrown away about four million pounds, he got a lot of head shakes, but eventually the manager took him to an elevated spot to survey the site: the mounds of churned earth, the depot where trash was mixed with soil, the grassed-over areas of retired landfill. Howells’s heart sank: he saw ten to fif***** soccer pitches’ worth of garbage. How could he possibly sift through it all?

But then the manager gave him some cheering news. Dumps were not filled randomly—like computers, they had an architecture. Newport had organized its dump into different cells: asbestos was deposited in one location, general household trash in another. It would not be impossible to pinpoint the area where the hard drive was buried, then disinter it. All he needed was the city’s permission.

Howells went home and examined the dump on Google Maps. “There’s only a certain amount of space,” he told himself. “The amount of rubbish is finite. The object is findable.” He was like the protagonist of Poe’s story “The Gold-Bug,” William Legrand, when he first cracks a coded message on a piece of parchment and sees a huge treasure within his grasp. However, Legrand needs only a shovel to start digging. When Howells called the city’s refuse division and left a message asking to launch a search, nobody called back.

By now, he had asked in a Bitcoin forum if there was another way to get his private key without physically recovering his drive—even though, he told me, “I knew there wasn’t.” On Twitter and other sites, he fielded many amazed responses. To some, the ease with which the coins had come to Howells seemed like a fantasy or a story from an already distant past: Nakamoto had designed bitcoin mining so that it required more and more computer power as the number of unmined coins decreased. “Did you really mine 7500 bitcoins in only a week?” one commenter asked. (Today, according to a Times report, it would require an American home with average electricity consumption at least thir***** years to mine a single bitcoin.) Others were eager to lend a hand in recovering his drive. “Email me,” one wrote. “I’ll help you find your coins and make a movie about it, no cost to you and we’ll have a blast.” Another offered help in finding a team of psychics and “a few diggers who will do the dirty work.” A ***** woman at the University of Bristol wanted to make Howells a subject of her dissertation, in which she hoped “to investigate the ‘affective atmospheres of cryptocurrency.’ ”

I've been thinking about internet and actions that don't have consequences, but maybe they actually do have some consequences except the mind doesn't want to accept how it affected you or consider how it would affect others. Is it right to blame an individual who was part of the angry twitter mob, or blame twitter for providing a platform where you can collectively shit on others without giving a shit about what they feel?

It’s not something you’ll necessarily want to hear, but you should probably hear it.

Several intelligence agencies around the world don’t merely collect information. Some engage in influence operations, even domestically in their own country.

The mechanism is often blackmail or kinds of social or legal protection from the consequences of an action.

It’s not only intelligence agencies that do this, but also companies, religious organizations, and various kinds of criminal networks.

They try to collect information about legitimate crimes or betrayals to gain leverage over individuals and organizations, but if they can’t find it they often create it.

In addition many groups require some sort of blackmail material to gain entry to the group, to work for them, or to work with them. What this means is that the intelligence agencies are pretty saturated with people that allowed various groups to collect blackmail on them, or ideally on one of their aliases.

If one of these groups cannot get blackmail from an act you did on your own volition, they can just drug you and and coerce you into doing it. The things they record won’t show the person doing the coercing. And depending on whether or not the person is drugged, they might not even remember it and the handler will approach later to confront them with it, leaving them to assume they drank too much or something.

What I’m saying is that just because evidence surfaces doesn’t mean a person actually did that thing under their own volition and they’re that kind of person. What it does mean, however, is that they’re a liability and some other group, sometimes several groups, has leverage over them.

Whatever the case, it’s a failure of the intelligence agencies themselves whenever this happens to politicians. It means they allowed a group to gain leverage over decision makers, that they’re behind the control scheme themselves, or they’re allowing nefarious people to run and win political campaigns.

First I woke up to a strong smell of sulfur. I was kind of worried someone might be pumping some sort of toxic gas into my room, but decided it wasn't worth opening a window to live.

Then I had a weird dream where someone was talking to me. I don't remember what they said. Their voice came out of the background noises of my room, which I normally tune out. And I saw them a little, they were like one of those alien camouflage things in tv shows that just warps light, except it was angular and more like when you increase the resolution over and over in gimp. I just saw distortions in the shape of a person. I think they were trying to be scary in the dream, not really scary though, but I just ignored that because I'm used to this kind of thing.

The dream was interesting, the sulfur smell is real and persistent. I just don’t know where it is coming from. Sometimes it’s super strong, like last night.

There are two mixed race families near me, one with a white father and one with a black father. Both men are unemployed and have 5 *****ren each. Just a few decades such people would be starving and would have to go door to door to beg for some bread to feed their *****ren and they would not get any because people were not ***** lovers at that time.
But even without nonwhites and race mixers welfare is a terrible idea as it allows morons to breed as much as they want.

Nothing is sustainable to me. All the things in the world that exist can at one point stop existing, especially those desirable ones. When I say that I mean things like for example botnet getting so widespread nothing can be done privately; not being able to get computer being able to boot Linux; certain hack or trick stopping working (let's say hacking video game console) so certain thing can never be done again and so on.
But it never disappears overnight. I'm scared something drastic will suddenly happen but it just doesn't work like that. Or for example I'm was scared when Apple released M1 laptops that it will be the end of Linux booting but no, some people tinkered and it was working. Or when glow*****s threaten no mobile phones or drugs will make it to prisons but even after acting tough they still appear (I really hate when feds scaremonger something doesn't work anymore or "it was working UNTIL NOW and now we have taken action and it's not possible.")
There are few things in this world that matter to me. I admire people who break limits and do things that seemed too insane or impossible. I want to be like them. I really care about having Linux on my PC and being able to use Tor so I would probably fight for it. But sometimes things become too hard and the people I'm talking about still push ahead. It's really admirable.

It would be unethical to kill myself and not put everything I have into eliminating the things that created a situation where I would consider killing myself.

I can't turn my back on all the other victims of this government, all the future victims of this government if it isn't stopped.

Part of growing up is making distinctions between yourself and others and learning what is your fault and what is someone elses fault.

I think depression itself is caused by blaming yourself for things you aren't responsible for.

Most of my life has been wrecked by crushing economics and I don't think I'm going to recover.

But I'm not going to kill myself. I'm going to kill people that are responsible for the disaster that is the USA.

Youtube has tens of thousands of videos uploaded every day, which seems to be far more than the number of active users on all the image message boards and IRC combined.

Mainstream social media seems to be mostly bots. Has anyone tried looking up people from their school year book recently on these sites to see which ones they can actually find profiles for?

There really are very few sites in English for social interaction outside of Facebook and Twitter.

There's Reddit, 4chan, and just a few other semi-anonymous ones that seem almost entirely dead.

If you examine Reddit more closely, it seems to be dead too. Subreddits that used to be busy are now totally dead with no explanation for why. And it's the same thing with other forums I used to go to, they're all dead with the most recent posts being from months ago.

How could there be so many people producing youtube videos, but so few people communicating on non-big tech social media?

Many of the videos are about disconnecting from big tech social media, and yet there seems to be virtually nothing off facebook and twitter.

It’s as if every site that doesn’t require a name and phone number to validate your identity is just an empty mirror with a few bots, something the could easily be achieved by rerouting traffic with the ISPs to mirrors of whatever sites exist.

I've been inside for most of my life, avoiding interaction with people and ever since I got close with someone I noticed that I'm extremely fragile emotionally. I cry to make the other person empathic towards me, I refuse to talk to people for a long time when I have the feeling they don't want to listen to me and I get angry at them over the most stupid things. Till now it's been really hard to deal with my feelings and the only solution to my problem seems to be drugs.
I tried to put my energy into my hobbies but most of the time my feelings are in the way of being able to even do them without endlessly getting distracted mentally by my emotions. I also tried working out which used to make me too tired to bother with my emotions but the moment I get home the tragedies all start over again. It hurts, it truly hurts to be this emotional. I don't know what I can do other than distance myself from everyone around me again.

I always thought it was a good idea to keep a daily diary, but the only way to do that semi securely (at least from crackers) is to write it on paper.

It hurts my hands to write on paper too long and it's barely legible anyway.

All I'd have to write in it was my daily routines like showering, shaving, and what I ate. It would paint a bad picture of me really fast.
