Anime sources (non-torrent)
How does one pirate anime without BitTorrent? Torrents can't be used with nanonymity except with a seedbox or on I2P, so there have to be other sources.
I have tried DDLs that some groups like Erai have but they seem to require javascript to work. Are there any other places to download anime?

Why the ***** does anime have to remind me that Attractive men exist and can do whatever they want while I am a genetic abomination that gets no female attention? Why won't they let me cope in peace!

What software do you use to read manga?
I'm still using ahoviewer and it's pretty decent, but you still have to use the mouse which is a very big bummer.
No keys for scrolling up and down a picture just invites carpal tunnel syndrome.
There are also no keys for next and previews tabs for the booru viewer.

Everyone agrees that when a woman is beaten by a man — especially if that man is her partner — that he is at fault. Why, then, do people respond to the opposite with laughter rather than horror? Domestic ***** is a serious issue, but many don’t take the ***** men face all that seriously. When societal discussions about domestic ***** occur, it usually focuses on men as the aggressor. However, women are just as capable of inflicting physical, emotional, verbal, and financial ***** on men. The ***** women can inflict on their partners is a topic taken seriously by intersectional feminist discourse, but often dismissed and even normalized in mainstream media. In anime, this was especially prominent in the world of harem anime. The wildly popular 2000s series Love Hina is a useful emblem of this, as it showcases normalized ***** directed by women toward its male protagonist. This normalization has a dangerous impact, not only on its direct audience, but also on correlating media.
When women hurt men in media or ***** their partners, it is often seen as justified. Women slapping men is a staple of comedy that dates back decades. Obviously, many 20th century works existed in a different context. Men abusing women was also normalized. The slap, in context, feels like the only way women can exert themselves in a world where a man could violently beat them with no repercussions, either from the law or their peers. However, media would carry on the aforementioned trope even as society moved toward penalizing abusive men for their aggressive, damaging actions.
It only seems natural that, in the increasingly exaggerated medium of animation, that slaps on the face escalates into being thrown through walls, violent bearings, and being called a pervert for simply opening up the wrong door by accident.
Naru and Keitaro with cherry blossoms in the background
Anime has an uncomfortable history with domestic ***** against men, but few are as infamous in this regard as Love Hina. The series centers on a dweeby ***** adult named Keitaro, who, after failing to get into Tokyo University, ends up running Hinata House — a boarding home for various girls that Keitaro’s grandmother founded. Each of the girls fall into familiar stock characters. There’s Naru, a tsundere who might be more similar to Keitaro than she initially indicates; Mitsune, a trickster layabout; Shinobu, a shy and quiet pre***** girl with traditionally feminine interests; Motoko, a martial-arts enthusiast with very traditional beliefs; and Kaolla Su, an energetic foreign girl of color whose eccentricities skate by on the fact that she’s from a fictional country. Later, a sixth girl, Mutsumi, is introduced.
What follows is a harem narrative focused on Keitaro gradually earning the trust of the various girls living at Hinata House while becoming a stronger, more confident person. In theory, this concept isn’t too terrible; but in practice, Love Hina undercuts its own message by including some really damaging tropes. The girls are brutal to Keitaro, and Love Hina conflates women abusing men with comedy, resulting in the anime normalizing said *****.
Takahashi Rumiko helped popularize this trope in Urusei Yatsura, a sci-fi sitcom manga centered on ***** and situational comedy. Ataru accidentally ends up on the receiving end of the alien Lum’s eternal love after accidentally proposing to her. Ataru is a lech, and, as a means to condition Ataru out of being actively perverted, Lum shocks Ataru when he leers at other women. In this case, Ataru is being punished for what is perceived as misbehavior. Lum is not human, while Ataru is being perverse. The reader can justify Lum’s actions while laughing at Ataru being punished for his perverse behavior–like the cathartic slapping of earlier media, it was a fictionalized way to see a woman “get back” at men prone to *****ual harassment, which they likely wouldn’t have the freedom to do in their real life. It is easy to find comedy in what amounts to ***** because Ataru “deserves it” for his misbehavior.
Akane stretching Ranma's cheeks
The exaggerated violence and over-the-top emotions proved incredibly popular with audiences. Takahashi would later reuse this trope in Ranma ½ and Inuyasha. However, one key difference between Love Hina’s later utilization of ***** and Takahashi’s is that in Takahashi’s series, both male and female parties take what they dish out. While the men get smacked around or thrown through walls, the female characters take just as much *****. On top of that, the characters who take the ***** are often physically able to roll with the punches.
Ranma ½ featured violence being committed between very physical martial artists. Both Ranma and Akane enjoy expressing themselves through violence. Despite an initial tendency to jump to conclusions, Akane gradually became less and less violent toward Ranma as the series progressed. Inuyasha, on the other hand, offers its human heroine Kagome a means of control over the half-demon Inuyasha, making him “sit” whenever he acts disagreeable–a tool that’s first introduced to level their power imbalance, because of Inuyasha’s hostility toward her when they first met and much greater physical strength as a half-demon. It is only as their relationship develops that she grows to trust him. Also, Inuyasha is a demon who can recover from being impaled, much less forced to sit.
Many anime would copy Takahashi’s incorporation of comedic violence, but a trend became apparent fast: power imbalance. The violence committed against the male character would often become increasingly brutal and inflicted on more vulnerable men over misunderstandings. Ranma is a martial artist who engages in over-the-top fights. What would happen if Akane beat up, say, a physically unfit nerd who just accidentally upset Akane rather than do something bad? What if Ataru wasn’t being actively lecherous, but, rather, only perceived as such?
shirtless Keitaro being glowered at by two of the girls
In almost every episode or manga chapter for Love Hina, especially near the start of the series, Keitaro finds himself stumbling into one of the girls bathing, in the process of undressing, or into some suggestive situation. These moments are often accidental. Keitaro either opened the wrong door, ran in to check on some disturbance, or maybe tripped and fell on someone. He is often not at fault, but his actions angered or upset one of the girls — often, Naru. As a result, Naru — or sometimes Motoko — violently beats Keitaro. This is supposed to be the height of comedy.
The comedy of Love Hina hyper-fixates on the girls of Hinata House abusing Keitaro relentlessly. They exercise physical, verbal, and psychological ***** on a regular basis. The main individual behind the ***** is Naru, the tsundere love interest in the series who ends up ultimately being Keitaro’s true love. Naru has moments of genuine empathy and understanding, even towards Keitaro. She demonstrates kindness to her fellow housemates. However, these moments of empathy only bring into further contrast her moments of irrational violent rage whenever Keitaro stumbles into an uncomfortable situation or when she suspects Keitaro of acting perversely.
Keitaro as a character has little agency when invading the privacy of women. This is by design, of course. Ken Akamatsu, creator of Love Hina, built scenarios where Keitaro is blameless for seeing women, unlike, say, Ataru from Urusei Yatsura. The difference is, however, that because Keitaro is framed as innocent, the manga also removes Keitaro’s agency as a character. That means he is blameless for invading these girls’ privacy. Unlike many an “accidental pervert” character, he isn’t secretly overjoyed that he’s walked in on his tenants naked–he always seems genuinely baffled or apologetic.
By making him ostensibly victimless, however, the audience is primed to side with Keitaro whenever something bad happens to him. He becomes a victimless voyeur, one who is excused from all crime as a result by design. It becomes “okay” for Keitaro to invade others’ privacy in the audience’s eyes. It often comes across as the ladies of Hinata House’s fault for entering into situations where Keitaro can invade their privacy. Akamatsu leads the audience to blame the victims of voyeurism for the voyeurism. This uncomfortable development becomes all the more problematic when you consider how the members of Hinata House react.
Naru in a towel punching Keitaro into the sky
In Love Hina, Naru is very much a tsundere, similar to Akane from Ranma ½. What makes Naru stand out when compared to previous tsundere characters, however, is how the text frames Naru’s actions. When Naru attacks Keitaro, he’s always demonstrated as a physically weaker everyman. Naru’s rage is always disproportionate and always played for laughs. She constantly berates Keitaro for situations outside of his control.
Her claims are justified because the other members of Hinata House either never question her or they partake in the *****. If anything, they side with Naru. Motoko, especially in the manga, violently berates Keitaro, sometimes incorporating brutal violence reserved only for an experienced fighter, not an unarmed, virtually harmless man. In the first volume of the manga, Motoko almost kills Keitaro in a duel for a perceived slight. This is played for laughs.
The result of the other girls taking Naru’s side is essentially gaslighting. They perpetuate an idea of Keitaro as an incurable pervert. Even the passive Shinobu feeds into this perspective by never overtly opposing Naru during these abusive periods, just shrinking into the background. They laugh when Naru beats Keitaro. Whenever Keitaro stumbles into another girl’s privacy, they use this as a chance to further perpetuate the lie that Keitaro is an active pervert, rather than a blameless puppet that is led to exploitative *****ual scenes. Neither party is necessarily at fault for these contrived situations, yet they blame Keitaro all the same. Shows like Love Hina don’t do anything to address the initial problem of women being *****ually harassed that the “comedy *****” trope originally rose to create catharsis from. They just shift blame and create new victims while still creating fanservice out of invading women’s privacy.
Keitaro surrounded by the girls in towels, who are angry
All of this violence is framed as comical. The ***** is turned into slapstick humor, a common form of physical comedy that features cartoonish, often physics-defying violence. Physical injury stemming from slapstick violence is less severe or deadly than the consequences would be in reality. When Looney Tunes characters get shot or thrown off cliffs, they come back as though nothing had ever happened. At worst, they turn into an accordian. However, in a more grounded setting, slapstick physics downplay any parallels to real life domestic violence. Without Keitaro bouncing off the walls like a rubber ball or flying high into the sky whenever Naru hits him, every “slapstick” scene would play as purely horrific. There is a danger when one applies the rules of slapstick comedy to domestic *****. Walking in on your tenants isn’t okay, but neither is hitting someone for making an honest mistake.
This is made all the worse by how Love Hina indicates that Keitaro’s ***** is ultimately good for him. In Love Hina, this ***** is justified not only by the other characters but by the narrative itself, showing that Keitaro grows as a character as a result of his *****. He’s shown to be more mature, to help the girls — his *****rs — with their problems, all while entering into *****ually charged hijinks. Especially in the case of Naru, who Keitaro ultimately ends up in a relationship with, the ***** becomes almost a slapstick punctuation for stages in their relationship. This continues even as they enter into a full-fledged relationship, showing that the ***** never ends and is just a normal component of their love.
The ***** is seen as a net positive. Which is actually kind of horrifying.
manga image of Keitaro and Naru
It is unlikely that someone watching Love Hina would develop abusive tendencies as a direct result. However, the violence on-screen will normalize violence off-screen. If you’re shown how violence against men isn’t a big deal, it will begin to influence your worldview. This might result in someone exposed to this messaging not taking a man seriously when he discloses that he’s been *****d by his female partner.
To an extent, there are several modern characters who are uncomfortably mean to their partners. While she does become considerably kinder as the series progresses, Nagatoro in Don’t Toy With Me, Miss Nagatoro initially comes across as an abusive bully. Ironically, however, Nagatoro’s relationship with her senpai is far healthier than Naru’s relationship with Keitaro. However, it does contribute to the same overall messaging to its audience: bullying is normal and can even be a sign of affection, especially if it’s a girl bullying a boy.
Even when compared to Nagatoro, however, Love Hina really comes across poorly. Nagatoro, at the very least, shows the bullying Nagatoro mature and become less violent as the series progresses, with the bullying progressing into light-hearted, almost consensual teasing. At no point does Nagatoro beat senpai through a wall. All of this creates an environment where its audience is conditioned to laugh at men being *****d. The question remains if they carry that lesson into their daily lives, and, if so, how it colors their interactions with the men around them who very well might be suffering in silence. If those silent men spoke out, would any of the listeners, conditioned to laugh, take them seriously?
When women hurt men in media or ***** their partners, it is often seen as justified. Women slapping men is a staple of comedy that dates back decades. Obviously, many 20th century works existed in a different context. Men abusing women was also normalized. The slap, in context, feels like the only way women can exert themselves in a world where a man could violently beat them with no repercussions, either from the law or their peers.

Need more retro anime
I just watched Ghost in the Shell (1995) and it's PERFECT. Please recommend me more similar anime. Stuff like AKIRA and Midnight Goku, with detailed art, fun action and a dark setting.

Anime focuses on characters more than anything and the characters are always above average in beauty, more like the top 1%. Even the side characters. What if you take a photo of yourself with a camera? You will look like a goblin in comparison, unless you are one in a million who looks as good as an anime protaganist. People are literally suiciding cause of this. Should anime be banned? At least until they stop doing this? Current iPhones use AI and better camera technology to make your photos look good. This has been shown to decrease suicide rates by 90% in America. So clearly I'm right about this problem being big. And an iPhone will still not make you as good looking as anime. Just wait until anime becomes mainstream. Suicide rates will be up again.

Your Views On Netorare(NTR)?
For me it depends. I dislike doujins that focus too much on the cuck. I especially don't like watching the cuck bawl their eyes out for 5 pages. The best artists know to focus on the corruption of the girl. Thats where my favorite doujins come from

Can we talk about how part 1 ended?
After countless episodes, the hapa and w*gger meet in battle 'over a fo*d' the w*gger took from the hapa in battle before the series began
But the w*gger turns around and just kills the fo*d at the start of their fight
The hapa fatally wounds the w*gger. And rushes to the fo*d
Only to find it was actually the w*gger's robowaifu he built after the fo*d killed herself when he ran into financial strife
It ends with the hapa burying the w*gger as his fr*end, who loved the same fo*d
Mind=blown. What are the moonspeak Ch*namen thinking?

In the throes of 2016, I decided to take a break from my midterms cram session by watching some clips of a new anime called Yuri!!! on ICE. I had been hearing about the show within the anime community for some time yet had put off watching it, unsure if the anime lived up to the hype. Much to my surprise (and detriment to my ability to concentrate on chemistry), I was immediately hooked. Of all the amazing things about the show, one of the most striking to me was the revolutionary way it portrayed the intersection of queer and Slavic identity.
Victor Nikiforov is a Russian internationally ranked figure-skater, a five-time consecutive Grand Prix champion at the height of his career. His life soon becomes intertwined with the protagonist’s, Japanese figure skater Katsuki Yuri, when he agrees to become Yuri’s coach and mentor. From then on, the two form an enthralling creative relationship, training together for Yuri’s Grand Prix comeback, while also delving into an intense romantic relationship.
The show’s casual, yet revolutionary acceptance of queerness blew me away. In his youth, Victor was gender-nonconforming and often presented androgynously, including growing his hair long, donning a flower crown, and wearing costumes that, in his words “suggested both male and female genders at once.” Yuri dons that costume later himself and, in many ways, inherits that androgyny as he performs his routine using feminized body language. As random strangers in Barcelona applaud Victor and Yuri’s “engagement,” there is a sense that the queerness is non-negotiable.
Victor leaping into Yuri's arms and kissing him
Early in its run, many viewers stayed wary, hesitant to label a relationship between Victor and Yuri as romantically intimate out of fear that it would not actually become canon. Some suspected queer-baiting. Yet Yuri and Victor’s relationship moves beyond this, becoming increasingly queer with each episode, to the point that one would have to shut their eyes and clap their hands over their ears, yelling “LA LA LA” at the top of their lungs to avoid recognizing its nature.
Yuri and Victor’s story is important to me for so many reasons, not only as one of the most potent love stories I’ve ever seen, but also one involving an openly LGBTQ+ Slavic character.
For context, Russia has made no secret of its disdain and often blatant hatred of the LGBTQ+ community. In 2013, they passed a “gay propaganda” law which heavily censors the distribution of information concerning the LGBTQ+ community. Other countries in the region, such Ukraine and Kazakhstan, are affected by this mentality as well.
Yuri!!! on Ice key art
I am first-generation Ukranian-American, meaning that while I was not born in the former Soviet Union, my parents and the majority of my family were. When they moved to America, they brought the culture of their birth country with them, including the good, the weird, and the ugly.
Even living in New York City, I didn’t learn about the LGBTQ+ community until late in my *****s. Queerness was never discussed in my house, and in the rare instances it did make an appearance, such as a same-***** couple kissing on TV, my parents would quickly change the channel and never mention it or, worse, discussed it in a tone that made me wish the subject had never come up at all.
Discovering that I wasn’t straight meant that I had to be extra vigilant growing up. It meant having to hide the comics and books with obviously queer covers in spaces my family couldn’t find them. It meant having to switch the pronouns of the girl I had a crush on when talking with my mom, while I had no trouble telling her about the crush I’d had on a boy previously. Homophobia takes on new dimensions when it appears in two languages, when there’s the absence of the vocabulary for who you are and when no one wants to talk about it.
***** Victor wearing a flower corwn and holding a bouquet
Aside from Masha Gessen, a LGBTQ+ Russian-American journalist who had to flee Russia because of its homophobic politics, I didn’t really know many figures (fictional or actual) who shared my twin, seemingly opposing identities of being queer and Slavic. So when I saw Victor Nikiforov, a Slavic character who is so openly queer, portrayed in a such a devoted and beautiful relationship with Yuri, I was nearly moved to tears.
In Western media, Slavic representation is generally characterized by poorly written stereotypes. Rooted in Cold War propaganda that still lingers to this day, Russian characters are often synonymous with villainy, thick (and often terrible) accents signaling their nefarious ways. The Marvel universe is rife with Russian antagonists who are violent, presumably straight, gun-toting criminals with as much emotional depth as a block of ice.
Yet Yuri!!! on ICE defies all this. Dedicated and committed to his craft, yet still silly and playful, and loyal to his friends and family, Victor Nikiforov is a man of many dimensions. When he’s not training on the ice, he’s either playing with his poodle or flirting with his fiancé Yuri, demonstrating an easy tenderness in a Russian character the likes of which I’ve never seen before.
Yurio in his white "agape" costume
The show also provides the same depth of complexity to its other Slavic characters. Yuri Plisetsky, nicknamed “Yurio” to avoid confusion with Yuri Katsuki, combines tenacious ferocity and grace. An ice skating prodigy who moved up to compete in the senior figure skating championships at only fif***** years old, Yurio is willing to do whatever it takes to win. His fans call him the “Fairy of Russia” for his natural grace and feminine appearance, but no one ever makes fun of him for his androgyny… well, except for JJ, but that was more lighthearted teasing. In fact, his coaches and the judges prize him for these qualities. Nor is he solely defined by his androgyny; his other nicknames, such as the “Russian Punk” and “Ice Tiger,” highlight his fierceness in competition and brashness off the ice.
Even the supporting Russian characters are wonderfully rich and human, as seen in the tenderness and toughness of characters like the gruff Yakov Feltsman or elegant Lilia. Yurio has a close relationship with his grandfather, Nikolai “Kolya” Plisetsky. In one scene, Kolya brings homemade pirozhki for his Yuratchka, and asks if he prefers other foods, particularly katsudon. “Are the pirozhkis not very good?” was so quintessentially Slavic that I burst out laughing, reminded of my own grandmother.
Yuri's grandfather patting his head. Text: Eat them and do well in today's free skate, Yuratchka.
The show has been praised multiple times over for its natural diversity, showcasing characters of Russian, Korean, Thai, Japanese, and Mexican descent, among others, and rightfully so. Simple things like Victor using Russian words such as “davai” and “vkusno,” or Yurio eating native comfort food like pirozhki, or even small cultural quirks like how Russians don’t celebrate their birthdays before the actual date may not seem important, but to someone like me it means seeing that the creators took the time to research these cultures—my culture—and portray them in a way that is both loving and respectful.
What’s more, Victor’s character in itself is something revolutionary when it comes to his occupation. Co-creator of Yuri!!! on ICE, Kubo Mitsuro, stated that when creating this show they intentionally designed a world without the homophobia or other prejudices that exist in our world, tweeting, “No matter what real people think about this anime, within its world no one is ever going to be discriminated against because of what they like. And that is something I will always protect.” In real life, Victor’s career and livelihood in Russia would be threatened by his identity. Here, his status as national treasure has nothing to do with him being queer and in love with a man.
While some have criticized the lack of homophobia as unrealistic, the show’s open and loving acceptance was a breath of fresh air to me. To see a relationship like Victor and Yuri’s, a queer interracial relationship that is celebrated instead of being hated, was like having my heart broken and then put back together.
Two images: close up of Victor with Yuri caressing his face, and close up of Yuri
Even though the show is fiction, and Victor’s reality is not my reality, Yuri!!! on ICE suggests a world where it can be. As television writer and producer Jane Espenson once said “You don’t create a new world to give them all the limits of the old ones.” And when I watch Yuri!!! on ICE, I see a world without limits, and this is a beautiful thing.

See, Squealer, like most people, makes the fundamental mistake of forgetting the underlying follow-up questions that seem to only apply to those who find themselves fighting for equal rights:
What have you done to deserve equality? What have you done to earn respect?
As a minority living in the US in the midst of so much racial tension, these questions often plague my mind. To see women like Breonna Taylor murdered in their bed and scroll through pages of comments asking what she did to deserve to be shot instead of asking what we as a nation can do better, is to imply that there are people out here inherently undeserving of even the simplest forms of respect. As if basic human decency is a privilege to be earned instead of something that should be required of everyone.
close-up of Saki, in shock. subtitle: So they chagned those people into beasts.
To even vaguely mention tragedies like slavery or civil rights only evokes discomfort and deflection. Instead of acknowledging these transgressions for what they are—atrocious crimes committed in our country’s bleak history of discrimination—the facts are often watered down until they sound so tame, even an elementary school student can learn about them without feeling a hint of shame or remorse.
The blatant disregard is enough to make you feel discouraged at times—as if the consolation prizes of desegregated schools or not having to drink from a colored water fountain are more than enough progress. When it comes to equality amongst races, minorities are often made to feel lucky to have come this far. “You don’t need more. You should be happy you’re here at all.”
When your cries are constantly dismissed under thinly veiled apologies, it can be hard to feel seen or heard, but that is exactly what happened when I stumbled upon From the New World, the anime adaptation of Kishi Yusuke’s novel by the same name. I ventured into the series expecting a casual sci-fi horror but was instead met with a much deeper allegory for discrimination that paralleled my feelings of being a minority in America.
Close-up of a monster rat. subtitle: However, even we are not tools to simply be used and discarded.
Set one thousand years into the future, the series tells the story of Saki Watanabe and her friends living in Kamisu 66, a society where telekinetic powers (“Cantus”) are the norm. These powers allow users to do anything from levitation to repairing broken glass to creating mirrors in thin air. The only thing they can’t do is harm other humans, or their death feedback—an involuntary reaction where a user’s cantus causes their vital organs to shut down—will kick in. It’s the kind of power that can make a normal person feel like a god; and, to the monster rat colonies nearby, they literally are.
From the New World tackles an age-old conflict: the haves versus the have nots. In this case, it’s supernatural powers, but in today’s society it can be anything from status to money, or even the right skin color. The need to feel superior often leads to a preemptive line being drawn in the sand, and what side of that line you’re born on often determines your quality of life before you’ve ever even had a chance to live it.
A smiling boy and girl with a confused monster rat between them
In From the New World, the conflict begins as “those who have cantus” against “those who do not,” but as those without cantus are slowly eradicated, a new, lesser species must take their place at the bottom of the social totem pole. The eloquently dubbed “monster rats” are just that: a species of bi-pedal humanoid creatures descended from naked mole rats.
They possess human level intelligence, some even smarter. They’re capable of speech. They have their own unique culture with laws and colonies, but none of that is enough to warrant them even basic rights.
In all but appearance, they fit the criteria of “equal,” so why is it they find themselves as slaves? Saying it’s because they don’t have cantus is a fundamentally weak argument, but most times it doesn’t matter what the variable might be, because as people, we will always find a way to pervert and manipulate whatever we need into a status symbol to be used for power.
two monster rats groveling on hands and knees. subtitle: God, God.
Throughout the series, the discrimination is pounded into you. Regardless of how advanced they may seem, monster rats are beasts. They’re foul, savage creatures. They do not look the same and they do not act the same, so therefore they are less than. It must be acceptable to mistreat them. After all, killing a monster rat does not trigger a human’s death feedback.
Much of this series hinges on how much easier it is to cause harm when you’ve justified it. Like the Three-Fifth’s Compromise laid out in the Constitution during slavery, the humans are willing to acknowledge monster rats as living creatures, but do not value them enough to consider them deserving of equal rights. If they’re lucky, they won’t anger “the gods” into decimating their entire colony without a moment’s notice. It is an incredibly shallow compromise that only serves to perpetuate the norm.
Humans act as though their intervention in the lives of the monster rats should be seen as a gift. However, it is a very unwelcome gift, as humans are “saviors” to them in the same way that slave traders were to Africans and Europeans to indigenous peoples all over the world. It’s immediately evident their relationship isn’t about true salvation at all, but about control.
cloaked figures looking at a caged naked monster rat. subtitle: We have allowed self-governance!
Which then begs the question: how does holding power over someone save them, especially when they did not ask to be saved?
The short answer is, it doesn’t.
Exercising dominance over someone is merely a way to lessen your fear of what they may be capable of otherwise. Monster rats are not special in this sense. As humans living in constant fear of their own powers, the society in From the New World seeks to regulate everything around them to give themselves peace of mind. The way their society is set up, it’s not unreasonable to assume the humans of this series want to be cautious. However, somewhere along the line, “caution” and “control” become synonymous, paving the way for morality and equality to take a backseat to discrimination and oppression.
Monster rats live in queen-based colonies and are mostly allowed to govern themselves. If they are lucky enough to become highly regarded or valued members of their society, they’re presented with human names. This is evident with Kiroumaru, a loyal army general for the Giant Hornet colony, and Squealer, who is promoted to Yakomaru for his own devotion.
The idea of growth and advancement in the eyes of the gods gives the monster rats something to strive for, though in reality this is merely just another manipulative layer to the deep-seated control the humans have already instilled in them. They’re the equivalent of house slaves among field slaves, promoted in order to sway their devotion to their captors.

Like anyone, the monster rats seek betterment for their society. Over time they assume a more human way of life, moving from living underground to above ground. They develop factories for creating paper and concrete. They even restructure their society to resemble that of a democracy, with elected officials from each colony. Reminiscent of freed slaves, they adopt a “when in Rome” mindset and change their culture to adapt to the very society that cast them out in the first place.
While this should be seen as progress to the humans, it only hinders their efforts and creates unrest. Saki’s classmate, Satoru, expresses his discomfort, saying, “I have the strange feeling they’re trying to replace humans. There aren’t any concrete buildings in Kamisu 66. When I saw their factories, I could only think that they are trying to claim for themselves the material culture that we’ve abandoned.”
It’s evident that the monster rats are not to be taken lightly. They are just as capable as the humans they find themselves subordinate to and that realization is enough to stir unease, as if they were expected to remain complacent forever.
A factory on a snowy cliff. subtitle: This is a factory where we make many things.
This is the beginning of an almost Civil Rights-type movement for the monster rat culture. Yakomaru emerges as the would-be Martin Luther King figure, though he operates under a more “separate but equal” Malcolm X-adjacent ideology. Yakomaru’s too smart for his own good; too ambitious, even. He’s exactly the kind of being that humans should fear, because he proves they are in fact on equal footing. Think back to the rules against educating slaves. The fear that the slaves might become literate and speak out against their mistreatment made it illegal to educate them at all.
Even after speaking with Yakomaru, Saki still dehumanizes him and belittles their efforts, saying, “However, the monster rats are just animals, right? They probably handle their emotions differently than we do. Most likely they felt cornered and took whatever steps necessary to survive.” It is safer to believe these beings are intellectually inferior, because not only does it make controlling them easier, but it also makes the oppression easier to stomach.
cloe-up of Saki, fretful. subtitle: Isn't it wrong to assume human and Monster Rats ethics are the same?
Underestimation is quite common throughout history. Indigenous peoples in the Americas were thought to be nothing more than savages. African Americans were deemed unintelligent and therefore ideal for submission. The idea that they might rebel seemed implausible, so to watch Yakomaru lay the foundation for his rebellion like pieces on a chess board is inherently satisfying. In a way, he’s overcoming the odds.
Yakomaru risks it all for what he believes in, and it is in taking such a risk that he ultimately fails. He leaves no room for compromise, realizing that if equality cannot be reached peacefully, he will have to take it himself, no matter the cost.
In a plot he’s been carefully cultivating for years, he kidnaps a human infant and raises them as his own. By being brought up in a society surrounded by monster rats, the ***** has no reason to think of themself as fundamentally different. Still, there is an advantage. The *****, like all other humans, can use cantus, but because they do not identify as human, they suffer no death feedback when killing them. Yakomaru essentially creates the ultimate anti-human weapon, while rubbing their own hubris and discrimination back in their faces.
The fact this ***** can be raised to believe it is a monster rat only further proves that the oppression built into this society is baseless. Believing the humans to be their enemy, the ***** goes on a rampage, mercilessly killing anyone they encounter. The humans are so ill-prepared that Yakomaru’s ***** is able to eliminate countless numbers of them before finally getting taken out by Kiramarou.
A monster rat staring down at a *****'s prone corpse
It’s the ultimate irony. Yakomaru uses his enemies’ own methods against them. Yet because he loses sight of his initial goal, it does not have the impact it should. The main focus is no longer the fight for equality, but the means used to try and obtain it.
Driven to the brink by his desire for acceptance, Yakomaru strays down a path that deviates so far from ideals of what an acceptable equality movement should look like that it would be morally irresponsible for the series to allow him to win. He is no longer the savior, the would-be Dr. King or Malcolm X of his generation. This level of destruction and devastation completely discredits his movement, and Yakomaru ultimately becomes the same type of tyrant that created him in the first place.
As a viewer, it’s hard to ignore the feelings of unease that arise watching this play out. There’s a certain level of disappointment, like watching a Black Lives Matter protest turn into a riot. No one ever wants to see these movements take such drastic turns, but at the same time, years of pent-up frustration at unfair treatment can only sit for so long before overflowing the dam.

When it feels as though no one takes your plight seriously, your rational thoughts often skew. Even Kiramarou, known for his devotion to humans, expresses his frustration, saying, “First of all, please look at this from our perspective. […] What exactly are ‘good relations’? By being loyal, obeying your every whim, and doing your dirty work, we are allowed to live. But all that can change in an instant. It is not unusual for entire colonies to be eliminated for no discernible reason.” Oftentimes, it feels like the only way for someone to understand your pain is for them to feel it themselves.
To watch the monster rats fail at their uprising is not exactly as satisfying as the show intends, considering they are the antagonists here. The violence that ensues is both tragic and unacceptable, but to see the conflict have to come to that point speaks volumes about humanity’s inability to sympathize. In using their power to oppress monster rats, humans foster the type of large-scale devastation they were trying to avoid by creating this contrast of power in the first place.
In a perfect world, this sort of mass devastation would lead to a discussion about how both parties can do better. As I watched, I hoped for an exchange or an understanding. I wanted to hear the type of conversations that should’ve followed the riots carried out after George Floyd.
However, Kamisu 66, like real life, is far from perfect. The power imbalance returns to favoring the humans. As if taken straight from the news articles and social media comments on my timelines, monster rats are painted as violent and disobedient, with their struggles disregarded completely.
close-up of an exhausted monster rat. subtitle: Because we are not slaves.
Any monster rat attempts at a truce are met with violence. However, human violence, much like the police brutality of today, is immediately justified. In the end, Yakomaru is captured. The oppression remains and is even hammered down on, as all disloyal monster rat colonies are eliminated in their entirety.
Still, the most devastating blow to my psyche came in the series’ last few moments. Despite being on trial, it’s hard not to sympathize with Yakomaru to an extent. As a viewer, when all you’ve ever wanted is to be seen as equals, you understand the risks he took to achieve that for his people.
Given the chance to explain the reasoning behind his actions, Yakomaru exclaims monster rats are not beasts or slaves, but human beings just like everyone else. The laughter that erupts after should bring me satisfaction, but instead it crushes my soul. The only thing worse than failure is being mocked for what you believe in afterward.
When faced when with the realities of their own transgressions, humanity does what it always does: rewrites history to make oppression more tolerable. Despite all the controlling tendencies that lead to this moment, humans keep their previous rules in place. The cause of these events is swept under the rug and everything returns to the status quo. It reminds me of the stark difference between what I learned about Black history as a ***** versus the realities I learned as I grew older and was exposed to more sources.
adult Satoru talking to Saki. subtitle: That means the Monster Rats were based on a different animal
In its final moments, From the New World gives you one last piece of food for thought that really challenges how you feel about both the human and monster rat races. Through some highly forbidden research, our main characters learn that Yakomaru was right all along: monster rats are, in fact, human. In an effort to create the perfect society, those with cantus turned on their powerless counterparts and mutated them into beings they could easily oppress and control:
“With the rat gene mixed into them they weren’t considered human and as a result, the aggression restraints no longer applied. The social balance could remain stable because they became animals and the humans with power could keep their privileged status. That’s why we’ve been taught to never think twice about killing them.”
It’s the final, morality-questioning blow to both the characters and the audience. To learn that Yakomaru wasn’t fighting for what he wanted but for what he deserved sounds like an all-too-familiar story. Despite people being the same, years of conditioning lead some to believe that they are unequal. It’s a blatant metaphor for discrimination that makes me wonder why it seems so obvious in an anime about humans and rats, but in the real-world people can’t seem to find the fundamental similarity amongst different races.
Although From the New World frames it as a science fiction series with powers and monsters, the elements are all there. The themes shine through and its portrayal of how quick people are to bury their pasts shows just how complex the fight for diversity truly is.
Kiromaru on the stand, righteous. subtitle: We are humans!
As someone who frequently escapes through anime and fiction, seeing a story so similar to that of Black people in American history was surprising. Seeing that same story end with no favorable resolution was just discouraging. There’s no perfect conclusion where true equality is acknowledged and implemented. Instead it’s pushed under the rug for a more favorable narrative.
Despite having the knowledge to change the world for both humans and monster rats, Saki holds it to herself, writing it in a book in hopes that future generations might read it one day and be better. Considering the mass censorship of books in the series, this solution feels unlikely, as it is impossible to learn from a history you cannot access.
It’s a passive choice that allows Saki to remain the hero of the story without becoming too political. She’s the friend who actively supports equal rights with you in private, but refuses to use her privilege to speak out against discrimination in public.
But then again, maybe it’s the more realistic ending that really resonated with me in the first place? It proves that the fight for equality is not a burden that can be shouldered by a single race or person, not if real change is ever to be achieved. In the end, From the New World remains a bleak reminder of how far we still have to come in terms of true diversity and understanding one another.
They hide their history away by limiting what books and information their civilians have access to. *****ren do not have rights until seven*****, making it perfectly fine to terminate them if they do not fit in.

Did anyone see this anime? It's just a crunchroll anime but I found it's mystery interesting. A lot of things unexplained and a lot of weirdness. I also enjoyed the oldschool style animation. If anyone has seen this can you recommend anything similar? I find a lot of the time shit is explained too obviously unlike this

Iyapan review
I have found the best anime in creation, its name is Iya na Kao sare nagara Opantsu Misete Moraitai, in English I Want You To Make a Disgusted Face and Show Me Your Underwear.
And it does precisely what it says right on the tin. If you go watch it expecting to see a girl making a disgusted face and showing her panties, by God you will get a girl making a disgusted face and showing her panties.
...All within 5 minutes of the episode starting.
...6 times in a row.
...For 2 seasons.
...From a 1st person perspective.
Still not sold? I can go on.
I find it very refreshing to see an anime that actually delivers on what it promises in a timely manner for once. How many episodes until Luffy finds the One Piece? How many episodes until Goku gathers the Dragon Balls? the anime even basically mocks you by having them gather those several times
All anime is full of bullshit fillers that doesn't matter IN THE SLIGHTEST. Meanwhile, for Iyapantsu, 5 minutes is more than enough time for a character introduction, build up, and reveal of her pantsu. Instead of inflating each episode to half an hour, the entire season lasts for half an hour.
And even in such a short time, the build up is still executed perfectly. Allow me to paint a mental picture:
The girl is having a normal day, possibly even a good day, I can tell because she is initially in a clearly good mood. Then I come along chat a little, and ask to see her panties. Boom. At that moment her cute smile is twisted into a cruel sneer from the sheer depravity of the request. Pronounced like a word of power, 'opantsu' casts a spell that leaves the poor girl embarrassed, uncomfortable, and utterly disgusted. Regardless of what happened before my arrival, her day is now completely ruined. Because of reasons, she is obliged to grant my wish, and she makes no effort to pretend she is happy about it; she instead hurls insult after insult at me. I do not blame her. Given the circumstances, seething is about the only thing she can do to cope. It matters very little, she is powerless now, and I WILL see those fine panties. Slowly she undresses herself, staring daggers at me that might as well be pumping blood directly into my crotch. Just a few more moments now. Those pantsu are as good as mine. Then she finally does it, I can see them clearly now. And as a final act of mercy, still glaring at me, her panties in full display, she throw one last vicious insult at me, as if I haven't exploded all over the table for all I'm worth.
Words could never do justice to the size of the cumpool on my desk nor to the length of the grin on my face. Her fury the source of my joy. Her disgust my lust.
Such is the aftermath of this encounter: I will never forget the time when she showed me her intimacy, contempt in her eyes and scorn in her tongue, this moment forever burnt into my corneas, and in turn she will never forget the time when she disgraced herself in front of me, petty insults being her only hope for catharsis. And that is a trade I would be willing to make again and again.
You have no idea of the sheer herculean effort I had to make not to coom right then and there when she started to machine gun insults at me. My joyous heart barely able to contain itself, my dick much less.
I swear, the flip from her friendly chatter into her brutal insults is probably how the jewelry industry produces artificial diamonds.
Honestly, it was a genius move to animate it from a 1st person perspective, really adds to the immersion of being treated like a plague-bearing rat crawling amidst a pile of non-recyclable trash.
It is a crime that it's rated only 5.74 on MAL. Normal*****s truly cannot ever hope to grasp higher art.
Behead all of them, I say, for they are hopeless.
Behead all of them, I say, for they are hopeless.

shin sekai yori / from the new world
What the ***** is up with this anime? It started out so promising with mystery around this civilisation, what happened and what is going on currently. They made a big point about this school and this catml. I'm now on episode 8 and all I'm getting is this cliche snoozefest about some fight between factions of *****ing rat men. I feel baited I literally don't give a shit about these rat people, obviously I'm going to have to suffer and see it through to the end now. Also animation style chinged??? General thread for hating on this anime and plz give suggestions for any mystery post apocalyptic anime or any anime that goes hard

Mind Game Anime
I want some anime that have mind games as a major part of the show. I already watched Death Note, Code Geass, Hyouka, Classroom of the Elite, Kaiji, Akagi, No Game No Life (some of it was nonsense, but some of it was really impressive), The Promised Neverland, Legend of the Galactic Heroes (I am mentioning this one even though it wasn't mainly focused on mind games so nobody suggests it anyway), One Outs and Zankyou no Terror (it focused on mind games at the start). Please tell me of more mind game anime.

Gay little anime girl syndrome
Is it just me or does anyone else relate to being an anime girl and think that society takes advantage of turning gay little anime girls into a hypercapitalist icon?
Anime uses gay little anime girls as protagonists for the audience to empathize with. Take Madoka for example, the only important male characters are the househusband and the sick guy who cucks Sayaka. The audience have to empathize with the gay little anime girls in order to invest themselves in the show. This is also evident in other important seinen classics like Yuru Yuri and GochiUsa which are marketed to adult men but feature gay little anime girls.
This is also not exclusive to anime, and it is quite common to convey a story with other gay little anime girls like Little Red Riding Hood or Alice in traditional fairy tales, Disney movies and even horror movies in which girls are the protagonists. It is possible that media knows this, and tries to deliberately convert the audience into gay little anime girls for maximum empathy and investment.

Plunderer (プランダラ Purandara)
>In a post-apocalyptic world dominated by the so-called "Numbers," each human will have their identity branded with their own "Count," which could define any number related to their life. May it be one's walked distance or amount of compliments given to them by others, this Count could lead them to the abyss when it has dropped to zero.
>In the year 305 of the Althea calendar, Hina has inherited a mission from her mother, whose Count has depreciated to zero, to search for the Legendary Red Baron. In her adventure, she meets a half-masked swordsman named Licht Bach who tries to hide his identity, as he is known as a degenerate for having an incredibly low Count.
Why do you think his mask is bleeding from the right eye?
Is it illuminati symbolism or something?

I Need Some Loli Ecchi
I am looking for some loli ecchi. I watched all of Kodomo no Jikan and Moetan (and KissxSis, but that's not focused on lolis), and now I need some more. I would prefer the fanservice to be from lolis in compromising positions and revealing clothes (and swimsuits) rather than innuendo towards ***** acts (i.e. pretending a plastic tube with milk is a semen-filled condom). To see what I mean I uploaded an example of what I would consider good fanservice. Please give me some good ecchis (preferably anime rather than manga, although the latter is acceptable), thank you.

Suggest me a good manga with:
- less than 15 volumes
- interesting main character or antagonist [or both]
- interesting plot [proper ending, but wouldn't mind ongoing manga or on hiatus]
- no friendship is magic shounen tropes
- no high school, slice of life, or romance horseshit that will make me jealous
- no sports
- no large cast of pointless characters that the author shoehorns out of nowhere to stretch the manga to hundred chapters

So, I really loved the show when I first watched it as it came out. For the past years if someone asked me i'd say HSL is my fav anime. I started watching it again a few days ago and... I remember it less *****philia. Like, I didn't think of it as a story about a mentally ill girl kidnapping a very ***** ***** for a relationship. I though of it as an unconventional love story or something like that but I feel really weird about it now. And idk if I can still enjoy the show now that I have this outlook.
Furthermore should i be worried that I saw what can only be described as a *****philic relationship and though "oh that's cute" rather than "oh wtf?"
I just don't know what to think about it anymore.

"I want to be the little girl" - various
In the heisei era, if a poster voiced a dislike of loli, you could instantly assume they were a pleb with little risk of being wrong. It was the mark of a normalfag, a fed, or a whore, and easily recognized as such.
The underlying truth of this matter as a spiritual determinant hasn't changed, but the public scorning of those who would speak against the superiority of the little girl has declined.
Today, a similar phenomenon is beginning to take up ground. Posters who voice a complaint about the use of terms like 'hetshit' instantly highlight themselves as low-power crossposters with undeveloped opinions. A simple example would be /pol/posters who instantly bring up political topics in response to the expression of disappointment about the reliance on the heteronormative paradigm in a work.
In both cases, the underlying issue is the same; gay little girls are cute and pure. If the reason for making a character less cute and pure than they could overwise be is not the definition of that character's charm or purpose in the narrative, it isn't a valid reason. The most common is the use of hetshit to get away with lazy writing in romance, because you can lean heavily on context that normalfags will assume is present. Anyone without this context, however, will merely see poor writing leaning on some illusionary factor.
Why is it important to make characters cute and pure/what do I mean by cute and pure in the above?
By cute, I'm just referring to generalization appeal. A loli is more aesthetic than a hag; unless charm points dependent on a character being a hag outweight that advantage, it's always preferable for a girl to be a loli than a hag. Similarly, it's always better to have another girl than a dude when there's no cost to it. To give an example of a character whose charm points are/are dependent on their flaws, consider the case of the cross dresser.
By pure, I literally mean not diluted. Older characters have more past and more context, which serves no benefit where it serves no benefit. Reliance on external narratives like the heteronormative paradigm attach an overwhelming amount of poorly described context to a story, whereas works with no connection to history do not.

anilist.co is down, I hope not permamently as I was saving my anime progress and to watch list on it for almost two years now. How does nyanochan track it's anime progress? There has to be a method more convenient than using a notepad or a piece of paper

What is it with Oreimo and -chan boards?
I see oreimo (more specifically kirino) everywhere i go, every -chan board just have's her somewhere, and if she's not, I doubt it's an image board overall.
But I've always been curios why. Is it because most anons are siscons who don't even have a sister? is it because of the otaku culture? is it just too iconic for -chan boards? Or does that just naturally come as a dlc package for being a anon who hasn't seen sunlight in years.
I watched oreimo, and at first though it was making fun of weebs who are into the whole siscon thing, but... THE ENDING OH MY *****, went just full on incest. I mean, it wasn't a bad show, but it really makes me wonder why it has stuck so hard with anons

Anime music resources thread
Can somebody leave some good sites or music collections other than nyaa.si behind where I can download Japanese music? A while ago I corrupted my music databse with the mv command and I lost over 800 songs.
I'm into LiSA, Eir Aoi, Reona, Aimer, Fripside, etc. but also less popular artists like Wakeshima Kanon and Kotoko so nothing weird.

Attack On Titan chapter 139 discussion
This got to be the best troll in the history of manga. It's obvious that Isayama did this on purpose, he had a million options to end this series but still managed to give us the worst ending ever. Hallu-chan disappeared off-screen, we got nothing to hear about Ymir, Eren failed to complete the rumbling, turned into a simp, died and left his friends in the middle of the battle for Paradis. Maybe the opening of last season was already foreshadowing a "shocking" ending.
Either the editors forced this horrible ending or it was all part of Isayama's plan.

Wan da Eggu
So are we just gna pretend like this show never happened? The girls are super cute and the art/animation is eggucellent. Honestly the token tranny isnt too bad if you rember she canonically 41%ed. But ja it was weird. I still dont know wtf was going on but hey.. cute girls doing... battle shoujo things? with pokemons?? and Death??? because.. science????
Still despite the confusing mess of story I hope we get a 2nd season. The suicide girls are cute and the parallel universe suicide protection squad is the cutest. This season ended too suddenly without closure for anyone. So many questions. Mostly i just want frill to did nothing wrong.
Being eggu is suffering.

Only 3 more episodes of yuru camp and my stars have aligned so I'm going camping tomorrow! I plan to rewatch the whole series sitting by a comfy campfire innawoods with hot cocoa and cup ramen. I'll have to stop somewhere along the way to download episode 11 since there's no internet in 3rd world america. Will chuggsie get so drunk aki has to drive the yurucampers home? Will nabeshiko be my waifu? Will glow*****s hunt me down and kill me in my sleep? For all this and more, stay tuned to nanochan next week!
Also, what other animu should I watch sitting around a campfire feasting on longpig with an incestuous family of bigfoots? I was thinking maybe wonder egg priority which I haven't seen yet. Feel free to make suggestions! They might not be ignored!

I'll lay down some points beforehand in case you're still reading this thread despite knowing my malignant posting history. First, this image is not used to bait you and is relevant to the thread. Second, this is an anxiety related blogpost. Third, this post will be long, incoherent, and a stream of consciousness. Ok, bye? I know that nobody cares about this thread (that's why I'm making this) >>>/b/42641 and as usual I'm just going to use nanochan to vent out. Still here?
Does anyone else think cute anime girls are not something to be ridiculed or admired but are a conception of the absurd, like Cthulu (inb4 Cthulu-chan), to be feared?
I have incoherent feelings in my mind right now but the dominant feeling is fear. I'm scared of images like this, the image of innocent youth, Index in this case, that is supposed to invoke a burst of protective emotion in you. It is deliberately designed to trigger your masculine insticts, protective instincts mostly. The bright warm colors. The slight tease. The le purity because of her *****ish appearance. This is all engineered and has interests not just from the creator and the societal conditions unique to Japan that brought such concept to existence but also corporate interests to make money and state interests to push their their culture. I'm completely aware of all this but why am I spooked?
Daddy Stirner would laugh at me for being spooked by a 2D girl. This isn't in any way similar to ***** in which you simply want to ***** the girl on screen and jack off to it or religion where you blindly follow an entity that you can't physically feel but simply have to believe. This is something on an other level of spook. Consider these examples, the idea that a little sister like Kirino is appealing is only because real sisters can be horrible and any experience with an actual real sister would completely ruin the fantasy. Same with *****ren. Real *****ren can be horrible themselves. Another example are maids. A real maid is usually an old hag and not cute girl who will show her pantsu to you with a disgusted look. This simply must mean that people who are into loli and cute girls are completely aware that what they are in love with is imaginary and has impossible standards (if they still aren't aware, they'll be soon) similar to the matrix scene in which Cypher is happy to eat steak despite knowing that it is not real.
Instead of being proud that I'm not deluded into considering something false as real, I'm scared, maybe jealous and feel inferior for not being able to have a conviction as strong as these people who reject society's impossible masculinity ideals and are completely aware that their 2D girl is not real. I won't be surprised if corona increased cases of people falling in love with anime girls. Some have taken their revolt to extreme limits with depictions of men who can be cute too. In case of long running shows, you might end up literally falling in love with a cute girl but the catch is you grow up but the girl stays the same, pure and untained. There are instances of people marrying their waifu through VR. They don't care what the character is as long as they are presented with a blank slate for them to imagine what the girl is. Some hate the creator, like Miyazaki. Some have rejected the narrative, like Asuka dying, and made their own narrative, like Retake. Some date their 2D girlfriend through DS games. Some profess their love, like Ikuhara, by cross dressing. Why do people do this despite knowing they're not real? It is very depressing to be confused about being not sure if there are no options to confront the absurd without deliberately letting yourself get spooked by something and enjoying the ride uphill. Is it impossible to simply reject it and seek truth (even if there aren't any) as the ultimate pursuit?
My fear and jealousy doesn't stop there. They don't just care if the 2D girl is real inside their mind. They take it to another extent and make it real. Studio Gainax did it with anime, they made anime for the fans when the options available was toy commercials and Ghibli. They have comiket and other doujin circles to find companions and keep their fabricated reality oiled through doujin and fanart. They even manifested their own district in real life where they can live 2D. A closed loop economy not made out of profit but to profess love. Cultural acceptance of attraction towards cute girls is impossible to replicate outside of Japan despite how much anime or cute girls are pushed in the west by kikes like Netflix and the Japanese government in the name of culture. It needed special conditions to be met that needs an anarchist reception and will possibly be impossible in future. It simply started as revolt against the impossible ideals set by a salaryman society, the consequent opressive social, masculine and gender norms in which women too prefer such impossible ideals set by the salaryman society like a stable salary and debt free, attractive, working class husband, coupled by the economic depression that shaved part of the existing middle class population. In such a situation born out of coincidences, it won't be surprising that men will seek options that are cheap and has zero investment, along with anime and manga as a culturally accepted and popular form of media thanks to Tezuka and toy commercials who acted as sponsors to fund anime production. Something like this can never happen outside of Japan, considering the constraints historically and cultrally, so even if you let yourself get spooked by 2D girls, you are going to be alone in your belief.
Another reason is kikes. Apparently, cute girl industry survived the economic repression so strong that the state got spooked and chose to incorporate loli and cute girls into their mainstream culture with normalfag shows, Tokyo Olympics, tourist ads, etc. while disproportionaly inflating the presense of loli and cute girls content compared to shows like vinland saga, berserk, etc. So, what started as a humble revolt, like punk rock, because an instrument to shill products: "look at this cute little girl lol now buy my product and operating system". Not to mention, women illustrators. Despite being imaginary, it is now forced and shoved everywhere and I'm ashamed for being spooked and manipulated.
I don't know what I expect out posting this. Just want to vent somewhere. I still haven't considered academic aspects and research thesis on this phenomenon so if you have any suggestions I'd appreciate. I already am considering reading this popular book by a psychiatrist later.

Oppai Ranking
welcome, and in today's show we have some anime oppai rainking of anime girls.
this is not my idea, but none other than 4cuck's /e/ spawn, that manifested itself as a not-working-without-js website https://bustchart.animu.date/, which unsurprising ly made very mad.
the list is under active development, on goycord server and at https://boards.4chan.org/e/brg. ngl they did amazing job, accept the website in my view, and now the list has 406 entries! Props to anon named Kersed#7502 on Goycord.
my intention is not to steal, but make this amazing work more accessible to nanon and others who just want to know info on favourite anime girl character, particularly bust size.
i have already created single debloated webpage, repo and csv which i will share here.
you can download html and zip with images at:
https://a.cockfile.com/hquVa.zip
https://a.cockfile.com/rBKFbx.zip
archive contains 406 small jpeg files and nothing else. downloads will expire in 24 hours.
i will share a repo link only in case if nanons of our /a/ board are interested in expanding the ranking list. you said /a/ is dying, so here's a bread!
if someone repost links to webpage and image files, i am not responsible for contents of that files.
csv is a numbered list with original comments, and my small corrections.
my current goals for improvement of this list:
--rename list to "Oppai Ranking"--
--removal entries from games--
--comment girls from non-japanese anime/cartoons--(maybe removal)
--correcting mistakes, including grammar--
--changing names of anime series to official--(from anidb, not burgerspeak)
--find likewise thinking nanons, who could help--
next steps:
--adding anidb anime id/ webpage id--

thank you for attention. i am very hopefull fot fruitful discussion of this serious matter. it's not like a care about you or anything.
p.s. also this list can serve as a way to find some good anime to watch next.
this is not my idea, but none other than 4cuck's /e/ spawn, that manifested itself as a not-working-without-js website https://bustchart.animu.date/, which unsurprising ly made very mad.
the list is under active development, on goycord server and at https://boards.4chan.org/e/brg. ngl they did amazing job, accept the website in my view, and now the list has 406 entries!
--find likewise thinking nanons, who could help--
next steps:
--adding anidb anime id/ webpage id--
--continue expanding the list, adding entries to offline webpage, keeping track at repo--
thank you for attention. i am very hopefull fot fruitful discussion of this serious matter. it's not like a care about you or anything.
p.s. also this list can serve as a way to find some good anime to watch next.

ONE PUUUUUNCH!!!!
Season 2 official trailer dropped.
Started off looking pretty good animation wise in the beginning with giant bird thing, then started to go serviceable right afterwards with bits of mediocrity.
Was worried about season 2, but this trailer put a nail in it for me. I do not believe they are hiding a lot more good animation in the show. I think they just shown the best.

Tsundere ツンデレ
A tsundere is a girl that pretends not to be interested in a guy, but keeps doing things for that guy, and keeps saying she is not actually interested in that guy. So, basically, she just isn't honest with herself and her feelings or is too embarrassed to admit her love.
Yandere ヤンデレ
Yandere girls are what one would call crazy girls. No, I don't mean like dorky or stunt-loving girls, I mean the batshit psychotic jealous bitch that you'll murder your entire family and your dog just to stay with you.
Kuudere クーデレ
The last well-known one, the kuudere girls, are those girls that look expressionless, wont react to whatever the guy says, doesn't get jokes, is usually of white or blue hair and most likely regarded as some sort of genius of high IQ or whatever.
Dandere ダンデレ
The word dandere ダンデレ usually refers to characters who are basically mute, that stay silent.
The difference between kuudere and dandere is that a dandere character may be nervous inside (not cool) but even so will prefer to stay silent, and a kuudere character can speak while still keeping their cool.
Deredere デレデレ
Dere-dere characters are very sweet and energetic, whose entire character archetype centers on their love for a single character. They are usually cheerful and happy and they tend to spread happiness to the ones around them. No matter what may happen, they quickly revert to their cheerful self.
Himedere ひめデレ
A Himedere refers to a character who wishes to be treated like a princess by the person she loves, even if they aren’t actual royalty. Himedere characters have a princess complex.
Kamidere かみデレ
Kamidere characters believe they are a god, they are also highly arrogant and proud, and aren’t afraid to speak their minds and show everyone how right they are. Kamidere characters have a god complex.
Gundere ガンデレ
A "gundere," or gandere ガンデレ, is a girl that expresses her love with or towards "guns," or gan ガン in Japanese. This is usually in the form of firing said guns while blushing in excitement or something.
Darudere ダルデレ
A darudere ダルデレ is a girl that is darui ダルい, "sluggish," and always says this and that is too much of a pain in the ass to do. If left alone, they'll just sit on their chair without doing anything at all. The dere part comes when she's asked to do something by her love interest. Then she says "ugh, I don't want to, but fine, I'll go. I just need to go with you, right? Then you'll stop bothering me?"
Nyandere ニャンデレ
A nyandere ニャンデレ is a vague type of dere that's just cat-related. Why cat-related? Because nyan in Japanese means "meow," the sounds cat make.
For example Nyanonymous is a Nyandere.

Black Clover entering a new arc
I didn't have high hopes in 2017, very annoying MC, lots of fillers and really slow build-up. Elf arc was pretty exciting but not very impressive compared to the show's popularity.
This year studio Pierrot finally started putting serious effort in Black Clover, the latest episode was a pleasure to watch and it nearly feels like it's I'm watching something new.
The opening hit #1 trending in USA, characters got make-overs, there are new villains and in this arc we will finally learn about the devil that resides within Asta's grimoire.
Anybody else excited?

Bully-waifus and related.
No forheads, no tsunderes. Something like the pic related, where its a story I guess but you can easily pretend the girl is talking to you; or at least a good portion of the work goes to highlighting her smug bully without any contrasting cop-outs.
So far I only have hayase and occasionally tonari no idol-san. Any of you into this kind of thing, any suggestions?

BambouzeMe!
Good day to you boys and girls.
Today I am talking to you about something unusual. I have seen a SoL seinen anime in a dream, with a whole synopsis and the 1st episode of which aired in my sleep as if I watched it and synopsis being known to me as if I created and directed it.
The main character is a ***** adult man, a Japanese salaryman in his early-to-mid 20s working some white collar job. The main female character is a Japanese midschool girl, a maid cosplayer in the midst of her puberty.
The story starts by the 2 meeting in the following setting: the salaryman is walking back home, bored and depressed as usual, and stumbles upon a maid cafe which he decides to enter. In a cafe there is a new hire, an extremely cute girl with beautiful black hair, with a short haircut and of average-to-low height, in a maid outfit. The girl is a bit timid but just because it is her first time on a job and soon they start talking normally while she serves him as a customer.
The talk shifts to the girl herself and it is discovered that the girl experiences a strong overprotection from her father, a prudish strong man, though later in the story it is revealed that he loves his daughter so much he is basically putty in her hands and as she takes initiative in the story he yields to his daughter, though not without a bit of drama.
It is somehow (unclear who and how) suggested the girl should become a street idol to get new experiences and move on in life, and that's how the 1st episode ends, with the girl smiling as she thinks of a new world opening to her.
The story will revolve around the two and their day-to-day situations and the weird relationship they are going to have. I was never thinking about anything like romance between them, it's more like older brother/little sister relationship with a bit seems-*****ual-but-actually-not-what-both-sides-think situation (girl doesn't really think about seducing the guy, the guy discovers that he is not the object of her desire but rather appreciation and affection), but they do get closer, becoming real friends in life. Basically, this show is actually as pure as it gets and there is no "serious relationship with minors" connotation here, hence the title of the anime itself.
"BambouzeMe!", pronounced Bam Booz Mee, is a wordplay on "bamboozle" (to confuse, disorient) and "me" (no comment, just "me" as in "I"), referring to the state of confusuion the two are going to get into constantly because of each others' actions.
The picture represents how the cover of the anime would look like and would refer to the smile of the main girl mentioned earlier, though with a bit of a higher angle, I guess, and a bit more pure. And the hair is black. I will post another picture to show how she looks like and behaves like shortly.
More and more details elude me as I write this and I realize this is nothing special but I still think this is a background for a decent comedy/coming-of-age anime and you know how it goes with dreams - they are exciting for really no reason.

Review for Reviewers
Today I have watched Ishuzoku Reviewers and boy where do I start.
Picture and animation quality ain't horrifying but it's on the lower side of the middle.
Plotwise it's SoL so whatever really but I feel the lore and the characters are mostly poorly done, which is kinda shame. Show cramps way too much together.
Overall the show does leave the aftertaste of lowbudget garbage, but it's still professionally done and does show a bit of love being applied during the creation.
OP and ED though are really nice, pretty much perfect.
The ecchi itself is surprisingly non-lewd. By that I mean I have seen lewder and better balanced, for TV shows of course.
The themes raised in this anime get some bonus points.
Overall I rate it 5/10. Too weak on multiple scales.

Rant about this anime/Novel, it had very little repercussion and it was the first anime i watched without being any indication, back on 2014.
i liked it a lot and want to watch again(and probably dislike).
I want to run an experiment by Reading reviews/critiques/trolling/etc. before watching so, this thread is yours.

Are you watching this show, nanon?
I've started reading the manga a couple of months ago, it's not a masterpiece for sure, but it's a cute little story to read on your free time. The girl does have a personality outside of her tits, believe or not, and the guy isn't a spineless faggot, he actively hits her when she talks shit.
The animation could definitely be better, the backgrounds especially look cheap.
The OP song feels too fast for the anime, but the ED one fits fantastically
The adaptation of the characters was really good overall, and uzaki's voice actress does an amazing job at dubbing condescending characters, some of the jokes got even better on the anime, imo.
7/10, pretty avarage, has its issues, but it's a fun ride so far, I'd recommend starting through the anime since they give some more character background upfront, while that takes a while longer on the manga.

Japan sinks critique
It's a pozzed anime full of girl power and pro immigrant sentiment.
There are at least two ***** attempts in the anime and in both a woman is physically stronger than the male rapist. In second ***** attempt the woman is a high school girl who defeats the would be rapist with ease.
Half of the important cast seems to belong to foreigners with protagonists only being half Japanese. Japanese nationalists are depicted as moronic jerks while foreigners are these noble cool and intelligent people.
At least two characters die from absurdly stupid and unbelievable deaths. The story has so many plot holes like an old man aiming at protagonists shooting the kid "by accident" despite clearly aiming for them.
I am not sure how much of the original story was altered by Jewflix but the anime is not worth watching and I won't even bother finishing it.

Has anyone seen Squirrel and Hedgehog?
I have heard that it is very interesting from a cultural point of view, how for example the American vixen is shown as '*****y' as a view of American indecency and degeneracy, and the American viewers made ***** of her so they're pretty correct about that. And how they show the American wolves stealing rations, which we may think is the least evil thing they do but in North Korea that is a really really big deal due to famine.

Anime lists
I'd like this thread not to be about any online anime list service, instead I'd prefer it to be mostly about best ways to keep offline anime lists, kind of a /a/ + /g/ thread.
A problem I still have to solve is how to keep lists of anime and manga that I watched or still have to watch in a format that is easy to organize and edit and update(and share with people why not).
The usual way of doing it is by using one of the many online services that you probably already know, being also a /g/entleman I dislike this approach both cause I don't want to keep it linked to an account and also cause I want it offline accessible at all times since I keep all my anime offline anyway.
With this sais, wat do?
Before giving up I tried using spreadsheets:
- Worked for a while, then it became a pain in the ass.
- No simple way of doing tagging, any organization more than tables.
- Have to use bloated software like LibreOffice that takes a lot to open.
Overally unpleasant experience 5/10
I'm thinking about a couple of possible alternatives:
1. Using plaintext files and string manipulation
2. Using a SQLite database and some script that interacts with it
Am I missing some incredibly powerful software that already does this offline?
What do you even use nanons?
bonus points if i could just get some way of playing to mpv when selecting from list or something like that

Anime is advertisement
I gotta redpill you faggots
Do you know how your cartoons work? There are two types:
Kid shows (normie tier, get most money from toys/accessories etc)
Rest (niche, most what you watch)
Kid shows air during day and make money through toys, accessories and other materialistic bullshit. Let's go to other category.
Other cartoons have its own name - late night anime. It's the cartoons that air late night due to cheap airing slots and few restrictions (you can't broadcast ***** during day). Now it's time for redpill: IT'S ADVERSTISEMENT!!!
Yeah, they adversise it for potential losers. Show doesn't make money from TV. It makes money through figures, dakimakuras, phone straps, posters, bubble gums and most important - DVD/BD discs. If you've seen prices you might be shocked - up to 100$ for 2 EPISODES! So 12 episode show completed can cost up to 600$.
Do people buy that? Yes. There is small number of ultra cartoon*****s that actually spend money on this shit. One disc having 10000 sold is considered big success. That's what they're willing to pay.
I didn't mention why they do it - well, most shows are based on manga, visual novel or video game. Cartoon is the way of promoting it. Most franchises are big hit when cartoon is out, it's just they way to advertisement it. They note up in sales correlating with cartoon airing. Very few cartoons are original shows.
OVA is making it straight to disc, so it's not wise to produce it. Regular cartoon receives advertisement and that's the way it's been going.
IF YOU WATCH ANIME THEN YOU'RE IN REALITY WATCHING ADVERTISEMENT NOW QUICK IT!!!
It's never too late. I know it hurts but what can I do? People go nuts over ads. You're full of shit.

Ghost in the Shell SAC_2045
Ghost in the Shell is one of my favorite anime, between the cyberpunk aesthetics, good characters, deep themes and good animetion(in original two movies and original SAC at least) I think there are objectively some of the best anime ever made in the series. I didn't like Arise or the new movie and didn't even watch the live adaptation, I already know the series is not the same as it was in the past but I guess I've been in denial for a while.
And then it comes this new series SAC_2045 supposed to be a sequel of some sort to SAC, at first I was enthusiast to have a sequel to SAC since I loved it, but what it seems we will get are fortnite-tier 3d graphic and netflix cuckoldry, tbh I would be happier it they would have let SAC rest in peace instead of taking a dump on its grave and ruining its memory.
Why can't we have anything good? Am I being pessimist or biased? What do you think of this abort?

Yesterday I was watching a youtuber called Whang whom makes videos about tales from the internet, and he made a video that really grabbed my attention! It's a video about an ongoing internet mystery about this supposed lost anime.
The story goes like this: some time in 2015, an /x/ user on *****TITS posted in a thread titled "things you have found on the deep web". In this post, he said that sometime in 2011, he found an OVA for a really obscure 90s anime. The title of the anime was in Japanese but he remembers seeing some English words that said something like "Go For A Punch". The anime itself is a very grotesque gurofest. It's about 9 girls who get trapped inside of a bathroom with no way out. You see how their sanity begins to break and at the end, they all commit suicide in some very graphic ways. One of them smashes her head open, another one asks to be drowned, ect.
You should probably watch the video to catch up with all there is to know so far

If you have absolutely any leads or ideas, no matter how small, don't hesitate to post them here! Any bit helps!

is Evangelion a hapa supremacist anime???
At the end of the last episode, Asuka (the aryan White American girl) is shown as being the last female alive, and Shinji (Japanese guy) is the last male. Given the love interest and *****ual tension displayed between them, it is a certainty that they will reproduce and their offspring will therefore be hapas.
I think that Evangelion is a subversive Anti-White Jewpanese anime and should be banned on Nanochan. As an upstanding National Socialist Aryan European, I think this subversiveness is the reason why the hapa Spammer kept posting Evangelion pictures. We need to keep Nanochan free from degeneracy and Jewpanese subversion!

Is it bearable enough for me to power through it and tell her with more confidence that it's a bad animu? Or am I entirely wrong and in for something decent? It would certainly be the first Netflix spawned anything (no, I'm not using Netfux to watch it) to be bearable, if it is.

The new Dororo has been an enjoyable experience so far, it keeps getting interesting with each new episode. Anyone else watching it?
>A samurai lord has bartered away his newborn son's organs to forty-eight demons in exchange for dominance on the battlefield. Yet, the abandoned infant survives thanks to a medicine man who equips him with primitive prosthetics—lethal ones with which the wronged son will use to hunt down the multitude of demons to reclaim his body one piece at a time, before confronting his father. On his journeys the ***** hero encounters an orphan who claims to be the greatest thief in Japan.

Kaguya-sama: Love is War
A bit late since the 7th episode is already out, but I watched it and it was ok. The storyline isn't continuous so you can just watch an episode here and there when you feel like it. Comedy is pretty good.
Basically a pair of student council members are in love and try to make each other confess in highly autistic ways.
What do you guys think?

>Japan is a secret club
No it isn't. 126 million people live there, it's the second most populous developed country after Germany and before USA.
>All Japanese people are efficient and skilled
Plenty of hikikomoris and NEETs live there, but they won't tell you this.
>Japanese people are happy with their lives
Suicide rate is very high. Number of lonely people is high. Life there is stressful and fast, even for Westerners. Lots of people are depressed.
>Why so many anime, manga, video games, visual novels, ***** is produced there?
Big population + money = big market. Germany is considered a big market yet Japan has about 40 million people, so make your assumptions.
>Japan makes so good stuff!
West, Korea and others also do - the only difference is that they don't produce autistic cartoons.
>I want to be Japanese!
You don't.

I think I know why people (and I) got hooked on anime. I'll skip things like self-inserting, loser mc etc. because that's iceberg.
I realized I've been fetishising japland for few months despite watching anime few years. These chink characters, catchy music, the fact that non-western country is developed make is exotic.
But then I looked at One Outs - very cool anime, imo one of the best and it wasn't that exotic. Key? It didn't have female characters and fanservice.
I got to the point 95% anime is pretty much softcore *****. Most of us is watching this shit for girls, doesn't matter if they ***** or even wear swimsuit (it's pretty much a rule in cgdcf) - it's that we get aroused, similar to *****, think moe.
What I'm trying to say? If not *****ual themes, anime wouldn't be as successful as it is. Are series like Kaiji or One Outs cool? Yes, but they're extremely rare to be considered medium, think of Hong Kong movies - they're also cool, but we watch them form time to time, not like anime that has *****ton of series in one season.
I'm still hooked on jpop (have you ever noticed all of this are girls? isn't there place for male bands?) but I want to stop giving ***** about this country. It made me feel like it's best in the world and no one else makes good stuff. Actually their movies are shit, but I'm talking about series/music.
What to you think? I'm literally cucked. Internet is full of shit like when japs had advanced phones before rest. I tend to explain that it was useless shit no one cared except *****agers, but it hits me whites didn't think of but *****ing chinks. japland is copy of western countries, but it's still not enough. Maybe it's all lie no one told me? Basically deweeb me.
